Cats adore affection. They will absolutely choose attention over food, as I assume through studies, they believe they can get regardless. They don't need us but like us. Squirrels, baby rabbits, adult rabbits, moles, birds, etc etc etc I don't mind him killing vermin, but the fact that he never eats any of his kills creeps me out.
