I had 2 guys in gym that would kind of rib me, but I think they were just trying to see how I'd respond

Not actively or at least not consistently. Always had that one or two kids that would clown or pick on everyone.

I benefited from my mom being a substitute teacher and nobody wanted to get on her bad side so I think I avoided a lot of potential bullying due to that.

No. Everyone in my highschool pretty much got along. There were a few jerks who liked to stir up trouble between people but that's about it.

he did? how did you happen to hear about it? Another question, do you hypothetically forgive the guy for bullying you?

Neh. I was always scrawny. But I had cousins who were a gang that beat people up over petty shit and most the friends I made could fight. So I kind of just got by through connections and charm. Most people would fight in my place, if I needed them to. I never asked for it tho.

Mostly in elementary school. Probably in middle and high school, too, but it was more psychological then and I just got tired of it and moved on from those groups.

But in elementary school... I remember...

  • a foreign exchange student punched me in the gut, I was standing in front of a pole and jumped back and hit my head on the pole.
  • a girl knocked me down and stood on my chest.
  • girls were constantly grabbing into my desk cubby to "borrow" things without asking, like pencil sharpeners or erasers. And then they got mad at me and called me names when I didn't want to move seats during certain activities so their friends could sit next to them.
  • one girl constantly teased me in choir, like all the friggin' time.
Actually now that I'm remembering it in middle school there were kids who got off at my bus stop and would just throw rocks at me as we walked in the same direction to our respective homes.

In high school the worst thing a person did to me physically was push me down on these stairs and I hit my knee in a really fortunate way on the sharp metal plating on the step. I think he was trying to just be funny but w/e.

A bit. I had a dude who picked on me for a few years but he did that to pretty much everyone at the school. Less a bully and more just a huge asshole to everyone.

Family moved to a new area in like 8th grade and I never saw him again.

I was only really ever bullied once in middle school and I couldn't figure out why. My mind only justified it as me being pretty tall for my age (5'10" at the time?) and, while I don't like ever really using the term, was this manlet gangster wannabe that would joke on me around his girl friends and tried to take me 1 on 1 during PE basketball games lol

I was picked on in elementary/middle school for being short. I didn't hit my growth spurt until halfway through high school. Just a lot of teasing.

In my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I was teased for my grades. I went to a low performing school where it was cool to pass with Cs and Ds. Coming from a private school and going to a public vocational high school, I was earning straight As which made me prime for teasing. One teacher in one of our classes called me a "genius" (which is far from the truth) and that became my nickname for the two years in a derogatory fashion.

I switched high schools my junior year when we moved and I did a much better job of blending in so I was left alone for the most part. Senior year was the best, though.

Made fun of several times and embarrassed but never really bullied. Not that I wasn't an idea target... I was a quiet skinny anime nerd, but I was hostile and ready to fight whenever someone tried me, probably what kept bullies away.

Yeah, I was always shy and quiet. Never stood up for myself, which made me a prime target once people figured that out.

Was always insulted and made fun of. Had my stuff stolen. Grades sabotaged when we graded each other's work. Eventually I just became the outcast. The only acceptable way my classmates interacted with me was to do something to me.

Some of the guys liked to rough me up. Nothing too major, but they would hang up on me and hold me down(usually 3 on 1). They'd take my bookbag and dump everything out, and maybe kick me around some. Besides getting dirty and having to pick up my stuff, worst I got was a bloody nose/busted lip and a bunch of kicks to the groin.

Some of the worst things are: Punched in the stomach upon returning after surgery(right on the surgical spot). Had someone write an extremely rude letter to a classmate who just had a death in her family and they signed my name to it. Once I went to open my locker and got a handful of... stuff, which had been smeared on my lock. Let's just say it had to have been a guy to have done that one... v_v
During senior year, we were all signing the class flag. So when my turn came up, I chose a spot in the corner with enough room. Well, apparently my name was too close to one of the popular people's so they yelled at me then painted over it so the other popular guys could group their names together instead.

For about a year until parents took me to another school as the former wasn't doing anything as the bully was the headmistresses child.

Met him many years later and he was extremely apologetic about what a shitty child he was though.

Yes, to varying degrees in grade school. School staff did nothing, so my gentle nature did a 180, and I realized "hey I'm actually a fucking giant" and bashed some heads in. It was the worst in the early years, but kids mostly knew i would actually break something in the later years.

He seemed sincere and spent considerable effort to find me, so holding on to the bitterness seemed pointless. The other bullies involved I've no interest in forgiving unless they do something similar, but it was weeeell over a decade at this point so I've moved on regardless and don't even live in the area anymore so very unlikely to happen. With the one guy, we spent several hours talking about it and he had done a lot to sort himself out and work to being a decent person/helping others.

My time as being bullied was awful though, and I hated the bullies for a long time and long after many of them even remembered me I imagine. It made for a miserable year and took me some time to get over it, even with school life in my new school being pretty damn great. Would routinely find my lunch put in the bin, coats thrown away or homework defaced/trashed when meant to be handed in or even clothes soaking wet in the showers after P.E/Gym. Kids can be absolutely awful

It hasn't been great, I'll admit. Life is currently much better than it has been, still not particularly good, but not unbearable like it has been in the past. If I could just achieve a few more things I think I could almost be happy with how things are.

Elementary and high school weren't bad but middle school was really bad

-Got bullied in PE for a complete lack of athletic skills. Early in 7th grade I tried to get back in line when we shooting baskets the other kids wouldn't let me. When we got back to the locker room all the douchey kids kept bumping into me on purpose, when I snapped some kid with a Napoleon complex shoved me multiple times. I was so set on trying to behave back then that I didn't shove back but I should've.

-Got in a fight with a kid that I drove nuts which I didn't consider to be bullying because I was the agitator. The fallout of the fight though was bullying. Everybody tried to gaslight me into thinking I slapped him (in reality I used a palm strike which was still dumb) One kid gave me so much grief about it over months that I eventually roundhoused him in the face.

-Art class in 8th grade was bad. The worst of the school bullies targeted me and when a rumor about me got spread that was his excuse to get violent with me while 8 other kids watched and prevented me from escaping it was awful. Worse the Monday after my mother made me go to school even though it was a half day and I had to sit in a classroom doing catch up work. I could have done that better at home.

-Another kid tried to shove a tuna sandwich in my face, my mother had threatened me about getting in trouble at school but I should have taken the suspension that would have resulted from knocking his lights out.

Eventually I did something that made other kids think I was crazy and they left me alone.

One kid started bugging me all the time in 8th grade until I got so pissed one day that I smacked him in the face in the middle of class when the teacher wasn't looking. I don't know how I didn't get into any trouble for doing that or why nobody told on me, but that guy never bothered me again

Yeah. Some of it was the fact that I didn't "fit in" in obvious ways: I went to an extremely rural school in the South and had a very, very pronounced "Yankee" accent as a kid (it's about 50/50 now where people around me still say that I "don't sound like [I'm] from around here" and anyone not from the South thinks I sound like a redneck).

I mostly got picked on for not going to church. Some kids were just mean though. I remember one day I was walking down the hall and a guy in my class yelled, "Stop smiling [My First and Last Name], nobody likes you." That might have just been shitty little kids being shitty because I got along with that guy by high school.

Looking back, I had a lot of anger problems that made me unlikable. I mostly had it under control by high school, so things weren't so bad by then. Still, I don't think I deserved to be bullied for lashing out in anger over the constant abuse I suffered at home. Multiple adults in my life failed me by not properly addressing the issue, but w/e. It just left me a deeply troubled adult who's incredibly unhappy with his current life and doesn't even have a pleasant childhood to wax nostalgic over.
