The two 8s were the turn and river.

I was the 10 J

I'm not sure if that's the most vicious loss I've ever had but that fucking hurt

It always sucks to lose to quads, especially when they get it turn/river, but he actually had a lot of outs on the river, he won close to 25% of the time since any of 5, 9, or Queen also gave him a full house. I'm assuming you weren't betting heavy pre-turn.

I'd have gone all in too, i mean who the hell expect the opponent to randomly hit trips on the turn

when I saw the quads I thought there would be a straight flush on the other side.

Funnily enough I thought I had a straight flush earlier on, my first ever

But the 2 was hearts not diamonds

I won big on that hand but fuck me it was still kind of devastating

Yeah angle and title made me think you had the quads

Rough loss. Sounds like there was still action to the river though? Hard to throw away a made hand holding the jack of hearts to boot, but would need more info on the pot and all that to even bother thinking about value or whatever. Brutal river card though, not a lot of cards you wanted to see, paring the board not one of them

We played 4 games tonight, I won the 4th so that's something

But still, what a fucking hand. I don't regret going all in tho.

Any flush would've beaten you on the turn already, and there were 12 combos of sets that would've beat you if the river paired the board. I would be very afraid with a straight on that board for sure, if they kept going after a big turn bet (i.e. they claimed they were strong vs a straighty board).

That's why I hate draw-heavy boards. Even if you make your best hand, it likely helps others more than it helps you.

Ditto.

My worst beat in poker came in the final showdown of a small tournament. I had 10-10. My opponent had A-x. The flop came up 4-4-10. Full house. Sweet!

To my surprise, my opponent moves all-in, so of course this was a snap call. Literally the only thing he could have that would beat me here is quads, which he didn't have. We reveal, and he realizes he is absolutely screwed. He prays for running aces, but the turn is another 4. Well, that seals it, right?

He was ready to concede, but his asshole brother runs in from the other room, shouting, "Wait! Turn the last card! Turn the last card!" The brother literally didn't know what the game state was, and just wanted to know what the river would have been. And I'm like, he already threw in the towel, but it can't hurt anything.

And damn if it wasn't the final four. So we stare at it for a second and go, well, okay, we both have four 4's. That's just a split pot, right?

Except he had the kicker.

I don't disagree here at all. Straights are almost always bad news. The third player also had one. He was chasing a gutshot, which I would almost never do, but he hit it. I imagine he still couldn't feel good about his position.

One time a friend of mine was playing a hand at a table in a casino and 4 of the 10 or so players had a full house (my friend included). But someone else had quads. The guy with quads cleaned up.

After that the dealer literally apologized to everyone because he's like "That just doesn't happen"

Lol. That's funny. Dealers at casinos aren't supposed to do that though.
