Is it just a very loud boycott? Or is there a team of hackers constantly trying to attack you and your associates until you're fired?

Typically you at least lose your career, if not your home and family; after which you're unhirable for a year or two, unless you find some way to ride the controversy or give an incredibly compelling apology, claim to go into therapy for whatever you're accused of, and become an activist that stands against whatever you're accused of.

It's kind of like how detectives coerce people into false confessions, really. Sometimes it's easier or less damaging to plead out than prove your innocence, which is why some people submit to the irrational mobs and further empower them. Honestly, even when the person is 100% at fault -- like the doughnut girl or whatever who filmed herself berating an employee -- the repercussions are generally way too extreme in relation to the transgression.

Oh, you mean the attempt itself? Social media bombardment and phone calls for starters. Vandalism of your property and death threats (not just to you, but also your family and friends) are common as well. And it goes on until either your life is in shambles or they find something new to be outraged over.

You become blacklisted. Like fucking Woody Allan. It sucks when people don't investigate facts and only thrive off of what he says she says bullshit.

Its a very brief period of time where the public reviles you for something you did wrong, then you get to complain about it on four major tv networks.

Cancel culture isnt a real thing. People are just mad that sometimes white dudes are now being held responsible for things like racism and sexual assault.

See, and this is how you can tell that cancel culture doesnt exist. Woody Allen directed 8 movies, a play, and wrote a book in the last decade. The majority of his movies were produced by Sony or Amazon.

So I guess he was blacklisted and cancelled even though he continues working in the exact same profession alongside several of the worlds biggest companies.

I would like a list of victims of cancel culture who have lost their jobs and families.

lolwut? Woody Allen sexually molested a girl under the age of 10 and, because he was famous, the DA dropped the case rather than investigate it and bring it to trial. And because the DA chose not to investigate the facts, Woody Allen had a successful career afterward instead of suffering any potential repercussions. Even Roman Polanski had *some* repercussions.

Cancel culture is very real and your remark is very racist.

aka "Cancel Culture doesn't exist because a guy didn't suffer repercussions decades before Cancel Culture was a thing!"

If Woody Allen was simply accused of doing what he did today, he would likely have never worked again even if the DA didn't pursue an investigation.

And I would like you to get off your fat, lazy ass and actually do some research yourself. Guess we're both not getting what we want today, huh? I directly referenced a few incidents, but there are countless others, both celebrities and non-celebrities.

Well, the ones who wound up committing suicide after not finding work for years certainly were. Otherwise it's a matter of most people aren't dead yet and how intellectually sincere you are when you say "work" since I'm sure some of the people who had been making six-figure salaries could get six-dollar-an-hour jobs (well, minimum wage is like $7, but you know what I mean)

And sure, a lot of the cancelled individuals are assholes or otherwise horrible people (although many others aren't), but at what point have they suffered enough?

You talked about wanting examples and being too fucking lazy to do even the tiniest bit of research yourself, so I'll use Adam Smith (the CFO, not the really famous one) as an example (and it's also a rare example of a SJW getting canceled). In 2012, the Tucson CFO recorded himself berating an employee over her company's policies (and being a complete toxic asshole about it) and posted it online thinking he was some great hero... and the next day he walked into work and discovered that the company had been bombarded with phone calls, emails, etc, about his behavior and was called in to talk to the CEO who asked him to resign. When he refused, he was fired. Within a few years, he was on food stamps and living in an in-law's garage.

still-looking-for-work-after-harrassing-drive-thru-
worker-over-companys-opposition-to-gay-rights

He was out of work for at least 3 years -- excluding a brief job where he was fired the moment his new employer learned about the video -- and eventually wound up moving out of the country.

https://www.cbc.ca/radio/outintheopen/reputation-1.4589616/his-first-protest-ever-cost-him-his-career-reputation-and-sense-of-self-1.4596546

But hey, he worked again so cancel culture isn't real, right? -_- And, in his case, he didn't lose his family, so clearly it wasn't that bad, right?

The pathetic thing about Adam Smith is if he had done it just a few years later he wouldn't have been fired.
