95% of the time the library is shit at launch and even if there is a title that is somewhat worthwhile, how can people feel its actually worth spending $300-600 (console) + $60 (game) just to play that one game at launch.

I didn't buy my Switch at launch but I probably would've if it didn't seem like a weird device. I didn't know if it was for me. I did still buy it at the same price because I do indeed like new shit.

I don't think it is useful now. I remember back in the day when a new system came out there were things to play. Now it is like here is something with graphics that look 4% better.

Lol, so true. The original PS2 was garbage, the slim was infinitely better.

Theres a mystique around a console launch. I think it was way more important in the 90s, when console launching was very common, but that sense has carried over still.
