Cops are so trigger happy. He should be jailed for this. They told him he was no threat and they still shot him.

that's the worrying part..."cops are here to help you"...no, they're not. they need to stop pushing that narrative. they literally don't have to. we need more programs so we have more people to call for help, because these days 911 is the last thing you want to call unless its for an ambulance.

My neighbor had a panic attack and we called 911 and they said had a team that would help. Its a counselor that comes to emergencies. It sounded like there was only 1 and it would take them almost 2 hours to get there. They said they could send an ambulance with the police.

My neighbors mom decided against it because she didnt want him to get shot as he was pacing back and forth and was in a panic. I calmed him down and they took him to the ER themselves but it was super hard to get him to do anything.

Imagine being in a crisis and having to deny yourself service in fear for your life from the people that are supposed to help you

Supposedly the kid ran away, and one of the cops just unloaded on him, cuz allegedly the other cop asked him what the hell he was doing and why he did it. Its all extremely unclear. Guess we gotta wait 7 months for the bodycam footage. <_<

This, police mostly deal with social situations or ones where things need to be de-escalated. Train them as social workers first of all, before the enforcement stuff. Of course they need to know how to take someone down, but that shouldn't be the first instinct. They're there to protect people, which also includes the ones causing problems if possible.

Even ignoring how stupid this is..... there is a big difference between a 19 year old and 13 year old in terms of body size and strength.

My fiance worked at a school for (mostly) severely autistic children (though 20-something was max age, so children maybe in quotations). Their orientation had specifically a week of training in physical take-downs, and they almost always made sure a male was a part of each take down team, which consisted of 3 adults to safely take down 1 child.

It's certainly not a trivial thing.
