Kuuko 09/02/20 12:13:52 PM #24:	I think his character was all over the place in TFA to begin with. JJ Abrams has said he went through tons of script re-writes before landing where TFA landed. So maybe in some earlier script Finn had some cohesion. But in the final movie we end up with a Finn who leaves the Stormtroopers because after being trained to kill all his life he finds on his first real mission that he doesn't want to kill, but also he doesn't really seem to care about killing other Stormtroopers at all 15 minutes after he leaves them apparently was mostly just a janitor anyway throws what might be his main antagonist Phasma into a trash can, kind of ruining whatever tension the two characters might have had later. Really ruined any potential for Phasma's character by extension. Their fight in TLJ, even the extended deleted scenes version, is lessened I think because of the trash can thing in TFA. almost got a cool lightsaber moment (which all the trailers and even the official movie poster show off), but after one embarrassing scene using the lightsaber it goes back to Rey and Finn never touches one again clearly has some sort of romantic feeling for Rey, which obviously gets overshadowed by Rey / Kylo tension instead It was a mess from the beginning and I dislike TLJ but I can see it tried to make his character something more coherent with a more obvious love interest with Rose, story arc (that still ultimately goes nowhere), and some sort of resolution with Phasma.
