1 in 1998
5 in 1999
5 in 2000
6 in 2001
2 in 2002

It then slowed down to 1 game every two years until 2010 when the franchise died.

And people complain about COD and Assassin's Creed!

I think I only ever played the original one and then an air assault one on N64 where you had to shoot giant ants to protect a picnic basket or something.

I liked Sarges heroes when I was a kid. The helicopter one was pretty dope too.

The last army man game I played was RTS on the gamecube. Fun game, but I couldnt 100% the special ops missions for the life of me lol

They were spread out among different platforms and there were a few spin-offs like Sarge's Heroes and Portal Runner.

If you had a PS1 it's still 10 games within those 4 years lol

  • 12 Third Person Shooters
  • 1 Shoot Em Up
  • 1 Top Down Shooter
  • 1 Platformer
  • 1 Real Time Strategy game
Assuming wikipedia is accurate

I liked renting Sarges Heroes when I was a kid. I dont know what year that was, 98 or 99? I was less than 10 years old, I also like the Mission Impossible game at the time, so I guess I wasnt old enough to realize that they were steaming piles of shit.

Weren't these games actually Army-funded propaganda >_>

Were they? I think they were trying to ride on Toy Story's popularity since those army men toys were public domain.

Nah COD is uninspired at best but the core formula is still fun. Army Men didn't even have that. Most games reviewed terribly and this was the era of PS1 shooters so think about how bad they'd be now.

Most of them were probably pumped out in a few months.

Hey
that Mission Impossible game for N64 was the fucking bomb, even if the final mission was entirely out of place and was best beaten through raw button mashing.

think I played that game like a few dozen times, it was mesmerizing.

I have fond memories of the first three 3DO games. I also played a lot of Sarge's Heroes and Air Attack.

I do remember hearing that the games dropped in quality since then though.

I remember renting Green Rogue for PS2. Was the first game I rented after getting my PS2 (I had gotten the first PS2 Crash Bandicoot, Wrath of Cortex, as the game with my console for Christmas which was fun, but had horrible loading times).

Was super excited to play it. Then I got home, put it in, and was terribly let down.
