It took me a while to get to this one, but I had played and enjoyed every other mainline Resident Evil title, as well as a lot of the spin-offs up to this point. Though I went in with low expectations because I felt 5 wrapped up everything nicely and there was no need to continue the series.

And boy was I right. Resident Evil has always been fairly silly in terms of plot, but this one was just completely bonkers, and not in a good way. Neo-Umbrella? Wesker has a kid? Pure schlock that tried to capture what made the others great, but missed the mark entirely.

All the campaigns were poor imitations of other games. Jake's was a poor imitation of Uncharted, Chris's (my least favorite) a poor imitation of Gears of War or any other generic action shooter. Leon's a poor imitation of Resident Evil.

I think the biggest problem is the developers clearly had big ambitions and wanted to do a lot with this game, but they didn't take the time polish or do any of it *well* and it results in a bloated, mediocre mess. Glad to put this game behind me. I hear 7 is a lot better, so I'll still be checking that one out in the near future.

What did you think of RE6? I couldn't find too much positive reception from fans online, so if you liked it, I'm curious as to what you liked about it? I hear it's better in multiplayer (and I had a lot of fun with RE5 in multiplayer) but I was locked out of that option because I don't have a PS+ subscription yet (I didn't need that for RE5!).

Sounds like instead of making a good game they decided it would be more fun to make 3 crappy ones

I only played the Leon part and didn't bother with the rest. And it's pretty damn rare of me to stop cold and not finish a video game. It was just such assembly-line garbage.

RE7, however, was great.

Pretty sure I did. All TPS REs are. All of them made less and less money, but they kept making them anyways. RE2 remake only sold well because of its name. The only good remake was REmake.

It wasnt too bad I thought, Ive been grinding out plats for the re series lately and while I would say its in the lower rankings of the games, I thought people over blown how bad the game was. It might be because i jammed like 8 re games back to back so it wasnt like i was waiting for a new game for an extended period to get let down.

Finished 5 a few months ago, then went thru the Gold Edition Campaigns and Merc Missions...so will be moving on to RE6 probably during Labor Day Weekend....While I played it at the Sony Store way back when it was 1st released, I thought it was kinda fun (only played a Leon Mission, forgot which one) so I didn't get too far into the actual story.

But like everyone else, I'm going in with low expectations...But ppl ragged on RE5 alot, and I really enjoyed that game!

Then I will tackle RE7, then all the REmakes (0, REMake, REMake 2)...might skip REMake 3 Nemesis since many says it wasn't as good as the PSOne version.

do they still do the "online" segments for certain bosses or situations? i remember being so confused whenever those popped up, especially waiting for it to connect, and then dealing with other players, all who never knew what we were supposed to do together. what a fucking terrible idea and implementation, ok?

I've got to be honest, I've only actually played 1 and Revelations myself. Back when I saw 4 I was just really confused about the point of it, cause it just looked like random people attacking and it was explained very poorly by the person playing it.

Then my sister played 4 and all I heard about was how annoying it is to protect Ashley, and how useful the perk you get for beating the game is.

Only watched a breakdown of 6 and stuff about it in the bigger timeline picture. NGL the idea of Weaker having a kid made me both chuckle and deeply concerned.

That sort of complaint. I think she said at least once that she didn't play RE to be a babysitter. I absolutely loathe babysitting missions in games, no matter how easy it is, so it sounds like you're torture to me tbh.

She apparently got a lot of laughs watching them try to lift Ashley after beating it. So it definitely upped her enjoyment of the game.

I never found protecting Ashley to be hard, but I am a pro-gamer and all of the mistakes I did make were a cause of my own shortcomings not from a flaw in game design.

I love the feel of RE6. The game has great controls... It's just too bad they didn't bother building a good game around them.

Mercenaries was a lot of fun though.

Pretty much. I think the only time the enemies ever got too her was in the scripted parts where you have to snipe the enemies away

I played RE2 back in the day and it was great. I played RE4 and hated it. sort of good art and atmosphere, but god-awful gameplay. never played another RE game and don't really want to.

Anyway, 6 is fun as hell. Wouldn't mind another in that style just with less shit level design and better movement.

RE4 was a great game, and a decent RE game.
RE5 was a great co-op action shooter, but a poor RE game.

RE6 was garbage all around.

5 was my least favorite up until playing 6, but I still mostly enjoyed it whereas 6 I mostly did not enjoy it. 5 wrapped up the whole Wesker storyline and the co-op was a lot of fun. I may have enjoyed 6 more had I been able to play co-op, but it requires me to have PS+ whereas 5 did not.
