This.

Honestly I never really cared for it, or most of his stuff.

It was well-exicuted Kitsch in its time.
A year before John Travolta was a tired old 70's laughing stock.

There's a lot of reasons why it great. Cinematography, writing, music, etc. But the style is what really puts it above a lot of other films at the time. It's a great movie.

It's also the line delivery. Every line is delivered with spot-on, pinpoint timing. And with Tarantino, there's rarely any wasted dialogue. Every line delivered is memorable, relevant, and poignant. Whether it's talking about Mcdonald's and the metric system, or Jews hiding under the floorboards..no scene is wasted.

Vincent Vega character and his storyline really makes the movie imo. Lots of interesting drama points.

Though that Christopher Walken scene is next level.

What would consider wasted dialogue or a wasted scene?

I'll concede Death Proof and his Four Rooms segment, but other than that, I'm at a loss.

i have a weird relationship with PF.

in 10th grade back in late 90's we had to dissect the movie for film class and somehow i couldn't appreciate it and just thought it was a bad/boring movie. apparently my juvenile mind couldn't comprehend the awesomeness. same was true with schindler's list and i was even younger then and thought the black and white color = boring

now PF is infinitely watchable and SL is close to the top of my fav movies of all time.

He's famous for 70% of his movies being meaningless dialogue that he just thought sounded cool. Pulp Fiction is the epitome of that. There's like five scenes in that movie that actually move the plot forward.
