Chattel slavery of the US was a horrible thing and is one of the great evils of the past.
Nazi Germany actually purposely attempted to exterminate a whole group as a primary goal. Like fuck, I don't want to do a contest of what is worse, but come on.

She's saying that American atrocities have been just as bad as Nazi Germany and yet people overlook it or in a way forgive it because it's "not that bad" by comparison.

I mean you have literal Holocaust survivors who have openly said some of the US tactics, specifically regarding the immigrant camps, were reminiscent of the Holocaust camps.

But if the responses keeps boiling down to "Oh you think we are WORSE than the Nazis!?" or "Are you saying the Holocaust wasn't that bad!?" ......

I mean realistically slavery caused the death of at least 1.5 million deaths, and millions of Native American's were relocated to climates that were designed to kill them, or put on reservations where they intentionally not given enough food to survive. It's time to stop pretending that we did anything other than commit genocide against the Natives here.

It's not so much about the mass atrocities committed by these societies - what big crime against humanity has Indian society caused? Definitely not any that are well known in the west. It's the structure of our social relations

This is why no longer teaching history in school like some places want to do is an absolutely terrible fucking idea. Roughly 13 million people died in the Holocaust by being rounded up and exterminated. Over 50 million people died in World War II which then led the the Cold War where the world was on the brink of nuclear annihilation for literally decades with multiple catastrophes just barely averted.

As horrible as slavery was, anyone that legitimately thinks it compares to the systematic extermination of millions with tens of millions more dying in a world war is a moron.

That gets into the Mischling Test. I forget the logic. I think maybe it was that the Aryan blood was much stronger than the Jewish blood or something? Whereas the one-drop rule gives more credence to the non-white percentage.

No one has actively warred with the US over its policies on human rights, but its own citizens have been the vanguard of change. That's what happens when you found a nation of rebels with revolutionary democracy. The rebel spirit is still strong.

For that matter... Millions of Jewish people were killed. But more slaves were born, lived their entire lives, and died while slaves. That's still a fucking evil thing. But then, this is CE where I see people saying don't judge slave owners for something that's was acceptable in their time, while being intentionally oblivious to the fact that Nazis exterminating Jews was acceptable amongst themselves in their time and most of Europe had banned slavery while America was still in its infancy. :l

Yep, they paid tremendous reparations and it helped heal their nation. We never did that in the U.S. and we can see how that has turned out. Lincoln actually had a reparations plan but his traitorous successor Andrew Johnson reneged on the deal and gave the land to Confederates instead.
