I've seen a number of people consider Salvation the best of the post-T2 movies because it's the only one that doesn't re-hash the Terminator Twosome premise. Looks like those people aren't on this board!

I watched Salvation Directors Cut last week and liked it a lot. Very far from the worst. T1, T2, and Dark Fate are also legit good. Genisys is silly fun.

The answer is 3, which was a bad movie trying to be good. It also took everything T2 established and was like nah we prefer money to storytelling.

Yeah either people didn't see 5 and 6 - who could blame them? - or are genuinely sore about Salvation not being typical Terminator.

Yeah, I know what people remember most regarding the film is the reports of its troubled production - particularly Christian Bale's infamous on-set rant at the cinematographer - and might have hated the Transformers influence, but yeah I'm a little surprised it's winning.

I do know about the infamous opening act-twist of Dark Fate and despite being the most controversial aspect of the film, it was apparently the ONE thing Jim Cameron and director Tim Miller saw eye-to-eye on. Even Sarah Connor's actress has defended the decision, mostly because she enjoys playing tough. Given it was Jim's idea, I'm getting STRONG George Lucas vibes here.

One more thing I forgot, I was hyped to see Dark Fate until Tim Miller let out one horrendously tone-deaf statement, and then the reviews came in and they were just fine. So this was basically the franchise's equivalent of the Ghostbusters reboot, joy.

It's the least Terminatey Terminator movie. No time travel. No Arnold.

I personally think it's fine because it tried something unique and different to the series and it's certainly better than the other 3 that aren't 1 or 2.

Salvation is easily the most boring Terminator movie. The others are at least good popcorn flicks or funny bad.

Its between T3 and Salvation for me and I voted T3. Salvation only edges it out because I thought it was neat that we got a movie about the future war that's always referenced. Even if it was pretty meh.

But T3 just has too many problems. Nick Stahl was a terrible whiny John Connor with some bad lines ("you remind me of my mother"). It feels rushed at times like they're just doing one thing and then quickly doing another.

But my biggest gripe with it is how it shits on "the future is not set" by outright saying "judgment day was inevitable". GROAN.

I know! And people get mad about the one spoiler in Dark Fate even though it's not much more of a happy ending override.

Heck, at least Dark Fate specifies that Skynet was stopped and that the problem was a new evil AI rose up. That's not really that far out there and could have made for a neat continuation of some of T2's themes. Though based on what I've read about the film that's not what we got.
