You really have to be living under a rock to think certain things would be too controversial or edgy to be made today with all the shows/movies with edgy humor or violence out there.

Suicide Squad

A few years ago, Harley Quinn's outfit was controversial because Margot Robbie had no ass. Today, that same outfit would be controversial because it's designed to highlight ass.

Basically any movie that treats the Nazis as anything more than a formless boogeyman. Even a seemingly fluffy comic-drama like Lubitsch's To Be Or Not To Be hits a little too close to home in that it humanizes the Nazis, treating them like utter buffoons and cowardly incompetents. Something like The Mortal Storm, which delves into Nazi ideology and the way it poisons the mind (and this was a Hollywood movie made *before* Pearl Harbor), would basically be unheard of today. And the reason for this is that there aren't any tiddies.

The other jojo even had a Nazi ally in order to team up against an even worse alien villain. Although the original story was made in the 80s.

Jojo rabbit?
Did it have tiddies in it? Checkmate libz.

In seriousness, Jojo did get a bit of a drubbing from critics. Its been a divisive film in the cinephiles community. But I think it was mostly because people felt it didn't treat the Nazis seriously enough. Old comedies like To Be Or Not To Be, and The Great Dictator, may have made fun of Nazi characters, and didn't have knowledge if the full scope of their atrocities, but they were not frivolous, and I get the impression Jojo's critics find it unbearably and offensively trite. The Mortal Storm, the other film I mentioned, was a completely earnest drama directed by an artist who was basically incapable of not being passionately serious, so ita not really relevant to JoJo, I think.

I haven't seen JoJo so I can't judge myself. That's just a small thing I noted. Obviously, many critics and cinephiles find it to be worthy of the company of the films I mentioned; its divisive but not wholly loathed.
