It's a little more complicated than that. The original japanese version didn't have Dante or the Amala Labyrinth or the Lucifer fight at all. The US/EU never got this version of it. Then like a year later, Japan made an enhanced version that added all that into the game and called it Nocturne Maniax Edition. The US/EU branch just took that version and brought it over and called it Nocturne. Then like fucking 5 years later I think, Japan made another version where instead of Dante, they replaced him with Raidou and called it Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition and packaged it as a free game bundled with the latest Raidou game. The US/EU never got this version. So the HD remaster is based off that Maniax Chronicle Edition. Literally the only difference between Maniax and Maniax Chronicle is the Raidou and Dante swap.
