Has it available to learn.

https://www.duolingo.com/course/hv/en/Learn-High%20Valyrian

Not Dothraki. Not any number of the languages millions of people already speak... but High Valyrian...

Hm... interesting...

I wonder if theres a reason why Duolingo is prioritizing fictional languages that barely have any spoken words to begin with in their show... as opposed to the second most spoken language in GoT,. Or even over fucking Farsi. I wonder if... theres just some... vague similarities the speakers of these languages share sometimes thats keeping them from wanting to put the resources into having that available.

But its okay because I can learn goddamn Klingon lmfao.

The slavers in Slavers Bay speak Valyrian. It's a plot point that they don't think Danaerys undestands them, but she does.

The Dothraki speak Dothraki and theyre present in a significant portion of the show, and part of Danys arc in the first book/season is specifically about learning it

That's not the issue. You said Valyrian had barely "any spoken words" which is patently wrong. Yes, there's probably more Dothraki spoken, but that's irrelevant to your claim.

Plus honestly, would you rather learn a peasant language like Dothraki or an elite language like High Valyrian?

Only in the books, because Martin isn't Tolkien and he didn't give a shit about it.

For the TV show they hired sexless conlang nerds to come up with a functional language (and vulgate derivatives of it), and their version has hundreds of words.

So whether or not "High Valyrian" can be spoken depends on whether or not you consider the TV show canon.

But since most assholes who would want to learn it only care about the TV show anyway, they probably don't care and consider it perfectly acceptable. They also probably named their kids Dany or Jon and are generally stupid.

Probably because there are a lot of people who want to learn it and are willing to pay.

Certainly more than most actual world languages. Or nonsense like Esperanto.

It's been years since I've actually given a shit about GoT, but is it explicitly spelled out in that scene that they're speaking actual High Valyrian?

Because I know they had their conlang nerds come up with multiple Valyrian derivatives (basically, the fictional versions of Spanish, French, Italian, etc to High Valyrian's fictional version of Latin) that they could have commoners speak in. So I'm not 100% sure if that scene was actually Missandei/Dany speaking Valyrian as opposed to "Meereenese".

Yes, but no one gives a shit about them because they ride horses and not dragons.

And because they cease to matter as anything other than nameless faceless canon fodder after Khal Aquaman dies.

But Valyria is sexy and mysterious, and High Valyrian is basically the Latin of their world.

Even in our world, plenty of people are interested in learning Latin but most people don't give a shit about learning Mongolian.

That and you can get away without showing much of a fictional language in a written format, because the characters just hear everything in the language of the work. TV and film you have to have the language, which is usually subtitled.
