Yeah I was hoping for something more, it's a pretty big name. Maybe it's just this one blend... probably won't be buying from the company again though.

Major Dickason's blend is pretty good.

as far as mass produced, grocery store coffee goes, Peet's is okay. most of their stuff is too dark for me, even their "light" roasts. but it's certainly better than Starbucks.

if you want good coffee look up a local roaster.

Oh yeah my brother got me some coffee from Portland, shit was unreal.

Have been buying Trader Joe's stuff by and large, it's like 3 bucks for a bag and it's got decent flavor to it. And every once in a while I get Jacobs.

Trader Joe's is relatively good for the price point.

if you're looking for something with a nice balance of taste vs price, check out happymugcoffee.com. after the $3 shipping fee i was getting 2 12-oz bags for like $21 or so. not bad.

the easiest way to get better tasting coffee is to buy whole beans and grind freshly before brewing. even with auto-drip you will notice a difference.

coffee kicks ass

We have a coffee grinder but we generally just buy grinds, and we have a Cuisinart automatic machine for brewing it in. Not the highest end thing but it works. And we clean it pretty regularly.

Trader Joe's has industrial grinders you can use. If you buy coffee from there, try buying whole bean and grinding there. Won't be quite as fresh as grinding yourself at brew time, but will definitely be better than buying pre-ground.

The second easiest thing you can do to improve your coffee game after grinding fresh is to brew with french press. This method is a bit more involved than the traditional way but IMO produces a better cup.

I always wondered how the grinders at Trader Joe's work because I've never seen any bags that you put into the machine to catch the grinds. Unless you're supposed to take a bag of whole beans, dump it into the grinder and then re-use the bag you just opened.

We have a French Press but usually use it for loose leaf tea, too lazy to make coffee with it. Rarely make Turkish style coffee too.

Yes.

it's pretty low effort. you pour in the grinds, pour in the water then wait. if you want to go the extra mile give it a stir and wait ~5mins before pouring (pour slowly).

Oh I know whole beans are generally much better, but this Big Bang has almost no flavor to it at all.

it's a medium roast, which kills some flavors right away. you're also brewing with auto-drip, which is costing you some flavor points as well. if you brew with pour over or FP you'll probably taste more.
