Also, how much definition does your chest have?

Was it worth it? Not just the time, but the pain, and, dare I say it, money?

Money? I spend less money and look better.
Took a few months of lockdown. My diet wasn't the worst, really my only fast food was Chipotle, but plenty of omega-6 fatty acids in that stuff. I continued to work (a lot) and work out (very infrequently -- some strength moves, not even biweekly) as normal and lost eight pounds by May.

Daily diet might be: a few eggs, some steak or ground beef, an ounce of liver, a kilo of potatoes, a glass or two of milk, a glass or two of orange juice. Sometimes eat salad and other fruit or veg. Coconut oil or ghee if I need to use anything. Used to be a vegan and I had a similar physique then, although was less muscular. What my diet now and then have in common: home preparation, no omega-6 rich oils, not eating fast food or buying snacks.

Waist is below 29" at 6'1" and I am 35.

Ate clean and did alot of core workouts along with weighted situps. Also fast metabolism. Took about 3 months to go from flat stomach to a solid core.

Simply put a good diet and core centric exercises does it nothing fancy.

How much do you weigh?
not much: 155 lb/ 70 kg

actually i do 'exercise' more than i mentioned by doing a kind of farmer's walk for a couple of hours a week. i usually just march in place or walk around the house while carrying a kettlebell or two and listening to a podcast or audiobook. haven't dared do this outside yet though

What do you mean dared? Cause the uneven ground? Just looking foolish?

You can achieve a nice set of abs in a few months with proper dieting and ab training providing that you do not have a lot of belly fat. Abs are actually fairly easy to train as they do not require any equipment and you can work them every single day.

as far as milk, well, i have been drinking lactose-free milk lately, not sure if that matters. i think in general the higher-protein nature of my diet and the bulk of the potatoes fills me up and causes me to get fewer calories than i did on my previous diet.

as far as OJ, although that might translate to another hundred or two kcals per day, well, that's not much if my overall daily metabolism is around (spitballing) 2800 kcals or so.
ray peat has some ideas about orange juice boosting metabolism, but i don't know much about that

not so much this as a fear of getting miles out and feeling too exhausted to get back home with all that weight. i'll get there though. aim to start hiking a lot soon and looking to be ready

Ah. I was projecting a lil from my anxiety of sticking out in public. I feel you tho, that makes sense. I remember kayaking far away from the beach with my fam and on the way back it was windy and there was so much regret. My whole body was giving up and I had to get out and walk it lol. Sucks getting to that point. I also pulled my sister part of the way too. The whole time just being like "god, I hope I don't collapse" in my head.

I rarely push myself like that.

Took me 4 months. Stomach was the last area that I lost fat in. I had noticeable gains in arms, chest, legs, before I had six pack.
