I admit to not having done alot of research at this point, so I will certainly do more and I will pick the person I like the most, outside of political parties, in general.

That being said, do you think if I vote for independants (and other people actually do it to mind you), that we could actually make a difference and help move away from a 2 party system, or am I just fooling myself?

In the past for primaries, I have often voted mostly for teachers if I didn't have anyone that specifically stood out. I'm not a big fan of our two party system (minor understatement), and I really wish I could see changes in my lifetime, but I have kinda given up on that happening.

So do you think I'm just throwing my vote away voting for independants, or should I stick to my guns/belief and vote for them even if they don't really have a chance?

I looked over it (have not researched individual people yet) and yes, there are actually quite a few independant choices.

But voting for them may be basically pointless, which sucks.

Wiktionairy defines it as a mispelling of independent, which is just weird... (As in, it being in a dictionairy would make it an actual word and thus an alternative spelling and not a misspelling...)

I still haven't sent in my request form for an absentee primary ballot. Granted, Joe Biden has the nomination on lock so it probably doesn't matter and I can't remember any really significant offices being up for grabs in the primary.

Voting with your principle is never a bad thing. I tend to vote libertarian knowing good and well they wont win.

The idea that a third party can't win so you shouldn't vote third party is circular logic. Voting for the lesser of two evils for generations has resulted in us having two racist, senile, corporatist, warmongering pedos to pick from. Be the change you want to see

It's like being a contrarian. You might be taking a stand for your opinion but the actual value of doing that is basically undermining your right to vote.

I'm willing to admit it's a self-fulfilling prophecy (people not believing an independent vote will count for anything so they vote for the major parties so they feel counted and tacitly continue the cycle) but unless a movement spins up to push society to vote outside the major parties, there isn't enough validity to voting for change that will just not come.

Yeah, it's not the presidential election coming, i'm voting against someone in that election, not for someone.

Mostly for in state position etc basically, but the same general problem applies. I'm just gonna vote who I like the most and screw it, I may not make a difference that way, but i'm just too frustrated with the system and I'm not gonna play along anymore.
