At this point and in some of these locations, they are misguided. Police killings were already statistically low when you factor in total contact with civilians and the amount of violent crime they deal with, then you add in that police reform is a priority. For others, theyre working out their guilt, due to the original sin concept of all white people today being guilty of injustice from the past. For some, like that Jake Paul piece of crap, they might just be bored from lockdown or looking for attention, and now they have an outlet for expressing that.

Honestly, I just don't really have the energy in my day to engage with a pair of recently banned accounts. What use is there in sparring with people who can't even keep from getting modded?

I just hope for darkprince's sake he's able to reconcile his role in society once America truly takes action on re-examining the role of the police in our country. It's hard to deal with the fact that no matter how personally righteous you feel, you're still part of a system that was envisioned for racist and classist reasons.

It was a new reporter in the middle of the street, not a newsroom. Which has nothing to do with anything, but your dead wrong about that little fact. Being released is irrelevant. The DA drops charges on people all the time, because its a waste of resources to pursue. That doesnt mean resisting arrest is not a thing. Nor have you dont anything to clarify what happened to the guy 20 seconds prior to the video starting.

If anything, its been shown that people cant police themselves. If anything, after all this, we will have more police lol. We stopped hiring during covid because of the hit on the city budget. After the peaceful protesting they immediately started hiring again.

my work is not going to change because banning of chokeholds which we didnt allow anyways, or no knock warrants, which we dont do anyway. I will work my next 1-2 years patrol, start detective work. Retire exactly at 20 years, 50 percent of my highest paid salary year. Which will be around half of 110k if we go off just straight pay. Ill be enjoying whatever fantasy world you guys think will happen to cops, safely in my room playing video games at 45 with my pension and investmoney monies

Just as slapping the "resisting arrest" charge on people who weren't doing anything illegal yet knew that is a thing.

Now you're just talking hypotheticals, which shows that you don't have a real arguement. What is real though, is that a man was tackled and arrested by ten+ people with dogs, all caught on video footage, with proof that there wasn't a curfew in effect. Give me a legitimate reason as to why that should have happened if he hadn't done something like "throwing a frozen water bottle" at a cop, because if that were the case I'm fairly sure he'd have been charged with battery.

The fact that a news reporter had gotten this from two angles shows that it wasn't some dickheads trying to push a false narrative, so it does in fact make a difference.

strange how we need 20 seconds before the video of the guy getting tackled started to make a determination, but in the OP video it just cuts around and doesn't show the police before the violence started, and RomanRoy has no objections about that

I mean it sounds like you are part of a decent department but its not like that in much of America. Most departments do good and bad, sure, but at the end of the day no ones making any reforms despite the desperate cry all of America has been making these last couple months. State monopoly on violence is why our pleas are so easily ignored and our protests crushed.

The difference for me, when it comes down to it, is that there are already laws that apply to people who violate them, but bad police officers can enjoy not only a unique immunity from the consequences of violating the law, but have the chips stacked in their favor through the police unions who support them legally and financially and a more than friendly relationship with district attorney offices.

If a protestor, anarchist, or what have you, breaks the law and you secure their identity, they will more often than not face their day in court to prove their innocence.

If a police officer breaks the law and you secure their identity, you can't say the same. They enjoy unique protections that ordinary citizens do not.
