Were you using a drip brewer before?

I prefer a Keurig these days. Maybe it's just me but I swear they make a stronger cup of coffee than any dripper or percolator I've had.

French press makes the best cup in my experience especially when using freshly ground beans

I first used a percolator at 8.

If the coffee burned due to direct heat, you are definitely using it wrong.

It is also possible to burn coffee with over heated water. It's best to brew at 195-205f. Which poses a slight issue since water boils at 212f and having hard water (many dissolved salts) makes it even more difficult since it boils even hotter.

Yeah, if the coffee is actually getting exposed to direct heat, you're using the percolator wrong. You heat the water, not the coffee.

I have a combo drip/k-cup keurig machine. drip is definitely better than k-cups, but k-cups are definitely more convenient.
