So much hype! I really love the aesthetic of this album so far especially. I hope the album is a little more folk/indie this time around, that would be sick. A lot of songs were written with Bon Iver and Aaron Dessner of The National which seems super promising for that direction!

Maybe "surprise" was the right word.

But being announced 15 hours before release is probably as close to a stealth release as one of the most prolific modern artists could possibly achieve.

I immediately like it better on first listen than Lover, which I admittedly wasn't a big fan of (besides a few tracks that grew on me). The lyrical writing is extremely texture-rich, it might be her best in that department since Red.

first impressions: this isn't bad!

seems to be the first album of hers since red that isn't weighed down by a handful of unbelievably obnoxious songs, which is a big plus, and there's some really lovely stuff on here (cardigan, betty, august, this is me trying)

mostly though it kind of just reminds me of the most recent national album - always pleasant but far too long, and once you get to the second half most of the songs just blend into a vaguely pretty haze

in defense of the last national album, the songs are a lot punchier live and I still think it's overall better than both trouble will find me and sleep well beast (both of which have some killer tracks but are also kinda boring too).

I could believe that, they're a great live band in general. The biggest issue with IAETF is easily its length, if it were 15 minutes shorter I'd easily take it over TWFM (though not SWB, which I really enjoy).

Folklore needs more listens for me to judge it well, but Swift albums have a tendency to run too long too and that might be more obvious here than elsewhere because of it's all somewhat low-key and lacking in punchy dynamics. Same problem, really!

Not sure how much I like it. i absolutely love 99% of tswifts songs so I'm sure I'll come around, and I can't really tell if I like a song until I hear it many times anyways.
