Yup.

I also remember being called a fear monger for saying early on that we need to take it seriously and flu comparisons are stupid.

It actually blows my mind that people are still treating it like it will blow over soon. I'm not referring to the dumbasses that don't take it seriously; I'm referring to people and organizations making plans for events in a couple months or in the fall. Same with in the beginning with the "okay guys just wait two weeks and we can open up!"

Hell, it took the NBA cancelling its season for people to wake the fuck up.

Yea. Some schools are doing in person classes in fall since they think outbreak will either be done by then or not as bad. Its so sad. This outbreak is probably gonna last into at least next year.

Maybe canceling CFB and the NFL will.

Stuff like this is why people don't take it seriously. This fucking childish attitude of "fuck other people I'm scared. We want to keep you alive, living being limited to watching streaming services because that's all life should be right? Just tax billionaires because money just makes things appearl out of thin air."

I said early on, not even among those taking it seriously were any long term plans for small businesses, education, ensuring supply chains aren't disrupted, and getting replacement medical providers ready among other things we'll need to keep us alive in the long term. When your only fear is that someone won't wear a mask and not long term concerns we can address before they become a problem, of course people think you're making mountains out of molehills.

And even then, one of the yahoo stories this morning was a projection we could be dealing with covid for years. If that's the case we might just have to address these issues people are having with facing mortality (Not their own, but anyone's) because we won't survive as a culture encouraging hiding forever from germs like Howard Huges.

You lost me with your dramatization of what we're allowed to do. Maybe Im more content with staying shut down cause I realize watching tv isn't the only thing you can do without everything being open. And this is a big part of the problem. People grown so entitled to everyone doing everything for their entertainment that they can't even be self sufficient with entertaining themselves.

I've probably been outside more this year than the last few summers already.

And lol @ projecting that "Im scared" when Im just not mentally weak enough to fall apart from losing stuff most feel entitled to. I could easily flip it and say you're scared of having to be self sufficient. Actually, seeing as you're the one thinking you're doomed to only watch tv until this is over, it's quite obvious which one of us would be more scared. I been out here thriving, helping family with their houses and yards, making myself useful. I actually don't really shut up about it here. So yeah, swing and a miss.

Edit: Im gonna keep it but that "mentally weak" part should be taken with a grain of salt. I might just have a set up that makes it easier for me to thrive and I don't consider people mentally weak just cause they might have a harder time. It's more so just aimed at who Im talking to atm.

Dude, I've been working through all this. My concepts of people watching TV came form the early days when I was saying we should prepare for the long haul and get work from home and training options going now, and was shot down by people when I said we shouldn't be treating it like a staycation. That's not getting into how even things that could be or even were socially distant were being shut down, because hey, a few dozen people on a golf course would be jammed in elbow to elbow. Stay home was and often is all you hear, too often in the condescending holier than thou attitude that acts like everyone should be as comfortable with it as they are instead of asking if there's a way things can be made to work.

And then you wonder why I think a lot of support from this comes from the NEET crowd that act like a single covid case (not death) wasn't good enough to open up and billionaires were trying to kill us all.

I've said it from the early days: let's shut down the streaming services or limit them in some way and see how long people will want quarantine to continue. We've already got the first batch of people that don't thrive on the idiot box 2 months ago.

Man, that first paragraph had me thinking you had some sense, then you completely demolished all that with that second paragraph lol.

"Let's purposely make people more miserable at home, so they will care less to chance getting a deadly disease"

Foh with all that. You're on some crazy control shit btw. To want to control and manipulate people like that is a whole other conversation.

You also acted like the tv thing wasn't your main argument, then reverted back to that argument immediately in the second paragraph

Maybe I'm funny, but yeah, I don't want quarantine to be too easy such that it's hard to leave it to go back to reality someday. The streaming thing is a half factitious joke that I could replace with a few other not strictly essential luxuries we've let slipped through (ie weed). And what's more I'm not saying we should open up. I'm commenting on perception, and while I exaggerate for effect, my point is that image is how openers can view people supporting lockdown: people acting like a child trying to pretend to be sick to stay out of school and home play video games well enough to enjoy it.

And yes, there's personal experience behind that. If we want quarantine, let's show we aren't just looking for the rest of 2020 off.

Ah. Im on disability. So opening up doesn't even effect me in a "damnit, I don't get to be lazy now" way. But to find common ground, I was also talking about how all these unemployment checks being more than what people actually got to work were gonna make people not very enthusiastic to get back to work when " the vacation" is over early on. It a set up for failure. Not to mention it's a slap in the face to those still working/risking and getting less money to those not working.

I'm just never gonna put any amount of money over chancing my family members dying and I don't want to keep seeing others lose family either. Id rather turn into a 3rd world country, rather than continue to watch the rich treat poor people like expendable pawns.
