Your response is kind of a default response, no?

I just think its funny how you think everyone is a poser teen that uses the word.

Again. You're reaching. I claimed that's who I was. I don't know how you read that as me saying everyone else is. I simply gave insight on my own experience.

But what are you claiming? That it's physically or emotionally hard to stop using the N word? Lol. I don't see how my experience wouldn't be common. I grew up pulling personality from rap and hood movies. Mixed with where Im from being a melting pot. So it just seemed like something to do. Then I grew up and realized I didn't experience life the same way as the people I was looking up to and that the history of people like me saying it wasn't a good look. So I simply stopped out of respect for everyone in the black community I looked up to. It's just petty as fuck not to.

Ah gotcha. Two totally different pages then, my bad. I completely agree with you if you didnt experience or have a lot of similarities.

I just meant from a standpoint of being treated different by other people. Otherwise, like I said my neighborhood is a melting pot. We had all 3 of the highest demographics on the same block. We did similar shit. Met in the middle of the block to play football. Like a corny movie.

The way I see it, context and which variant is used matters. There's quite a difference between the er and a versions.

I'm fine with hearing black people use the casual version of it. It's theirs. I don't like hearing white people use it.

But hard R I hate regardless of who says it.

It's just a word. The context behind its usage is what matters like with any other word.

Everyone should stop using it if the word is that hurtful. End the word.

There are certain people who will use the word just because its hurtful. Best thing to do is for everyone to say it so we all become numb to it thus it wont be as effective at hurting people :D

As with all racial slurs nobody should ever use it because there's never any good reason to use it. With that said though, it's become part of a (counter?)culture so if you're part of that, it's part of you. But then you should be understanding that some people will have a hard time perceiving it as anything other than a racial slur. I don't think you can "reclaim" a racial slur because I don't think there are any people separate from other people that could "reclaim" something that others couldn't. But I also don't think racism will be solved just by using or not using certain words. And if and when racism goes away the word will go away by itself, anyways.

This would be okay, too, but sadly the world is not that innocent. It's a really ugly word, sadly. Because of our history, it's particularly ugly, it evokes the worst of humankind.

I wish it wasn't so dramatic but it is. I understand it's a tricky word. It's a tricky matter. Let's see it clearly.
