If a white or mexican kid grows up in the hood most black people will allow it. Fat Joe says it and is okay with anyone saying it within context. Some black people don't even want Mexicans saying it. To each their own.

It's been ingrained within multiple generations and with black and Hispanic people at this point. It's not going away. In context between two people who have grown up using it and are both black or Hispanic, the word has almost completely lost its racial character. It's a slightly spicier, slightly more familiar form of bro or dude for them. No amount of shaming or hearkening back to what that hard r version used to mean when spoke by white people during Jim Crow is going to get a 14 year old in the Bronx or Compton to stop using it in 2022.

I'm black, but I don't use it because no one I grew up around did and it would be weird for me to start now, just because I'm black and technically can. It wouldn't even sound right coming from me. If I can understand that, I'm really not sure how some white people can't.

I dont use it (typically), but dont really care if other black people use it. Theres multiple ways it can be used by black people. Just dont pull out the -er. Its always bad.

Other races using it? Most of the time they are using it to fit in or be funny. I dont care youre reciting a song, but in general use, no. Yall have no real reason to use it.

Thats my take. I do wish it would just go away. But I digress.

I made a joke once wasn't even thinking like that. I was just messing around wasn't even judging. Just was an innocent joke to mess with someone and push their buttons. Very innnocent that way. I was up working on someone's computer and there was a voodoo doll on someones desk that they were joking about. And one of the black girls kept asking me what it looked like because she was scared. It was just a wooden voodoo doll with pins in it. And I was like it looks like you just intentioaly trying to freak her out. She was all shocked. And I was like nooooooo and held out my hand.

I thought about it after because it was kind of funny because she is always wound up like people are out to get her ad some people judge her and don't like her. I did. She realized it after the fact.

I've always been someone who more hears the ignorance anyways.

Another black girl who sat next to me at the job before that. The management was talking about her like she was lazy and wasn't tryingn. And I was sitting there and was like I sit next to her and she tries. I'm more the opposite where when I'm there i do a good job but struggle showing up on time. Fire me. I'm a whole other case though.

I think this whole systemic racism it depends on where you are anyways. I'm a whole other case. I ended up leaving that job working somewhere else where that other story happened. And she got laid off and ended up there and gave me a big hug when she saw me.

It depends on where you are. I don't think the place i worked was systemically racist either. It was systemically something else. They would tell me i was fine though and would try to help me in other ways. But the same. I would take a lot of crap too. They would do that for her though but how i responded to those things was just different. It got to be exhausting.

It really depends on how you see it. Have you ever seen the movie kentucky fried movie? Where the white guy goes into the ghetto and yells it. That's pretty funny. I think ignoring that is racist. To each their own though. You can refuse to watch that movie but you are missing out and being a stick in the mud.

I live in a mostly black neighborhood. How am I racist. Do that sometime.

A) Only black people should say it
B) Black people shouldn't say it around elderly black people or people (of any race) who are made uncomfortable by it

The fact that there are people who think if some people get to say it then everyone can say it just shows how long we are from true racial equity.

I think it's more a matter of people saying things and people getting hurt. It happens to a lot of people. Sometimes it really is ignorance. Other times people are trying to help and it's other peoples ignorance and even that can be exhausting.

People say ignorant things sometimes. And they mean it that way because they are ignorant. They are jerks.

There really is all sorts of ignorance in this world. How people help and everything else. How people see people who are trying to help. etc, etc.

Other times it's just flat out ignorance when you use that word. That's when it's wrong. And even sometimes how people judge those people why the way they are. Some of them just got sick of it themselves or whatever.

OTher times it's just flat out ignorance and is what it is.

I think the control freakishness is the biggest problem. It's wrong. Being able to recognize when it's wrong is it's just wrong. It's not that difficult to determine that. Some people make it that way out of their own ignorance. They start judging everyone that way because they are stupid. And they are wrong too.

It's the black glove or whatever it is. It's not even that. The black glove is symbolic of something else. Darkness. IT's something else.

In legal terms, anyone, though obvious social repercussions should be applied depending on context. In a general sense, if the point is or ever was to "reclaim" the word to turn it into something less offensive, then it needs to be acceptable for anyone to say so long as it's not used in the context of a racial slur. The current climate behind the word is kind of silly, like the discussion on whether people should sing it or just mumble over it if singing along with a rap song. This whole "stop the world the second it is said in any context by a non-black person" thing we have going on is just weird. It should end up being treated as with any other swear rather than this nuke of a word.

I think most people are unaware of that word's existence. It does precede the slur, but it's never been part of the common vocabulary anyway.

Jerry Lewis used it in an act 15 years ago or so at a casino, and it caused a bit of an uproar then though.

This country went crazy since 9/11 in general. Some of it is strength some of it is like watching a bunch of paranoid people trying to control things that they think are terroristic when they themselves have become that. The idiots are winning that way. I've met small ch ildren who are like little terrorists. Does it scare me? No.

People are still afraid of clowns and sometimes for good reason. I think in Hitler's case that was a good fear to have.

I've never been hitler on things really. I think everyone is different. I used to manage a video game store. White kids, black ids used to come in there. This one guy nice guy and his wife was disabled had ms or some sort of nervous disorder his kids were like terrorists. It was more just funny because i'm secure like that but every time they would come in his kids would completely trash the store and I'd have to clean it up. It was like here they come again. I can make suggestions on how they are supposed to behave but really. Some people are just hitler. It's not my job to yell at his kids. The family itself were generally nice people.

Some people just would would just yell at them. Say racist things too. This family was white but i would deal with all sorts of people white and black. I'm not like that.

People have limits. I think people generally are stupid that way too you say one thing and then people are blaming you in todays day and age.

Mom's do it. People do that. They get upset and try to teach people proper behavior. Now what people are talking about is absurd where people get blamed for doing that and everything else.

I was in subway yesterday. There is a line you are not supposed to cross. Like an actual line because of the coronavirus. Two black people crossed it. The black woman who works there was like I need you over here. On the internet they'd be calling white people and black people racist for doing that. And vice versa for people who are actually doing the proper things.

I think in general it's just sense. IT's the same thing with that family. I really didn't care if their kids were messing up my store like that because they probably would come to my store to get out of hte house and their mom was disabled. I'm not going to go all nazi on them. Some people are bigotted that way too. I chose to be nice that way. Where some people might not have been.
