This is coming from someone who was a huge fan of him. Let the man rest. Seems like people get him trending on Twitter at least once a week for literally no reason just to bring him up.

A celebrity goes crazy. "Omg, just like Etika."

Nintendo makes a cool announcement. "Omg, Etika would have been so happy."

Smash Bros community is full of pedohiles. "Omg, Etika would have been disgusted."

A video game event is happening "Omg, hope they dedicate it to Etika."

Event doesn't mention Etika "omg, can't believe they had the gall to not mention our joycon boy do they not realize how much of an impact he had on the community?"

Nintendo breaths "omg was that a reference to Etika??? Is this how they honor him???"

He was a popular Youtuber who had mental health issues and instead of helping him his fanbase kept on talking about how they were going to stop watching him if he continued to act like that.

Then a large chunk stopped watching him, he had another breakdown, people said he was just looking for attention. Turned out he actually killed himself.

Ever since then his fanbase has just wanted to point fingers at literally anyone else besides themselves even though it was THEM that kept on calling him an attention whore.

He got really excited about Mewtwo being in Smash 4 and made conspiracy videos about Ridley secretly being a character in Smash 4.

Then he realized he could make funny by doing funny reactions and for the rest of his life he basically just acted like he was excited when there was a new Smash character revealed.

You can say "omg no he was being genuine" but in his last reaction video he screamed his head off and talked about how amazing Banjo-Kazooie were and then he looked dead on into the camera and said "I actually don't know who these guys are."

Yeah, literally the first time I've heard of the guy or heard that he committed suicide...if he was an attention whore he was pretty bad at it.

The only time I remember hearing about him after he died was the 2019 pokemon cypher. (I didn't know who he was before he died full disclosure)

the thing with people who hang around communities, is that they eventually forget that their community is very tiny. so when they talk about something that happened in it, they refuse to believe that someone cant know about it, because obviously everyone has to if its all the community is talking about

but in reality its like 30 people talking about it and no one outside the community even knows that the community exists

Idk. There were a bunch of topics. Most around when he died. And a little before. Also, someone posted a video of him going crazy over Smash when it was coming out... While I wouldn't think random people saw them, I would have thought the regulars would have seen the topic. One may have been written by Ducky, as well... But definitely not all, IIRC... While I can't remember the OP, I can remember what the topic was about. That was when I first connected the name to the person... I Googled him, which many people here seem to have a problem with...

This is a weird topic. I haven't heard any excessive mentions of him besides the first few months after his death, and I even follow video game and Smash Bros communities. He'll get brought up occasionally due to how he was one of the most well known people in the Smash circles, but I can't say I see him brought up any more than other celebrities that self-terminated, such as Robin Williams or Chester Bennington.

Came in to say this.

Before he died, I heard of him maybe three times, tops. After he died, I haven't really heard anything about him at all.

If he hadn't done a few crossover videos with the Achievement Hunters, I would have literally no idea who he is or anything about him. As is, he's almost a non-entity to me.

If you're hearing about him constantly, it's because you're going to places or haunting hashtags where they talk about him constantly. So stop doing that, and problem solved.

The reason why Etika was brought up in relation to the Smash community is because theres a video of him trashing on Sky Williams calling him fake and stuff like that. Sky Williams is a central figure in the Smash scandals recently because he was the one renting out these Smash houses that a lot of abuse took place at.

Sky was also making a big deal about how he was trying to help Etika over Twitter. Dude obviously saw though Skys shit though.

Maybe a lot of people did lose their respect for him there and he noticed and that's why he killed himself. He did it less than a week after posting that video.
