I'm trying, i'm on episode 3 or 4, but I had to just take a break. I just don't like any of the characters.

I don't like this merlin, I don't like Arthur (where i'm at he almost seems like a bad guy with what he has done), I don't like nimuah at all, I mean there isn't even 1 character i'm rooting for.

Maybe it gets better but MEH!!!

The trailers/ads I keep seeing for it on YouTube kind of make me cringe. I can't exactly put my finger on why, but something about it makes me feel like I'd absolutely loathe the show if I ever tried to watch it, in spite of the fact that I tend to enjoy fantasy in general.

Is that what it's about? Makes it feel like a riff off Mists of Avalon in that case.

Which might explain why I was getting negative vibes from it. I never really liked Mists of Avalon, even when the fantasy crowd was kind of fellating the crap out of it.

I like the main character actress from 13 reasons why, and I like fantasy settings, so I thought I would enjoy this.

But yeah, it's another take on the whole arthur/merlin thing, but Merlin is a white bald drunk, Arthur is black (and so was his dad), which I guess I can wrap my head around (although it seems a bit strange for the time frame), and oh also...I guess....a thief....I mean they would make the black Arthur a thief, so racist.

Meanwhile I really don't like the actresses role in this, the main char is kinda...I don't know...just meh.

I don't like anybody.

Is it a deal where Christianity is the true evil and pagans are noble and pure and tragically resisting the encroachment of the boooo-bad "civilizing" monsters, where you're left with the impression that the tribal society they lived in was a peaceful utopia before the coming of the evil Imperialists, thus feeling like a lazy propagandistic piece meant to sort of counter the usual "official" historical propaganda line of "progress" and "civilization" and "order"?

Because that's sort of the vibe I get from it. And which would make sense, if it was inspired by Mists of Avalon, or just has a similar viewpoint.

That is pretty much it, but I don't really mind so much cause I think christianity was pretty freaking evil back then lol. I'm ok with that kinda story line as long as it's good (Merlin the show for instance kinda followed that and it was a bit over the top a bit but still decent).

This show doesn't have redeeming factors from whatI have seen, but I may just be burnt out on shows which is why I was asking.

Yeah, don't let my current inability to get into shows turn you off it. I did like Warrior nun though, so it's possible for me to like a show, but not this one I don't think. The orgy in Brave new world turned me off as well...I'm not having much luck with shows lately. Couldn't even get into black sails!!
