Animals are unpredictable and your child's life is simply not worth it.

"Bridger Walker, a brave 6-year-old boy from Wyoming, has gained social media notoriety after being praised by Anne Hathaway for rescuing his sister from a dog attack.
On July 9, Bridger jumped into action when a 1-year-old old German shepherd mix charged toward his 4-year-old sister, a statement from the family obtained by CNN states. While shielding his sister he was brutally attacked by the dog.
"Tragically, instead of running off, the dog leaped and latched onto Bridger's cheek," the statement reads in part.
Bridger subsequently underwent a two-hour surgery that required more than 90 stitches, according to his family. And when his father asked him why he jumped in between his sister and the dog, he is said to have told them, "if someone had to die, I thought it should be me," according to the statement."

Small children are seen as different creatures to medium - large dogs.

german shepherds can be huge dicks if you dont train them and let them run wild. smart and aggressive.

i think youre taking my post as some sort of anti dog posts

i have 7 dogs

2 small dogs (chihuahua dachshund mixes) 3 medium dogs (an Australian shepherd, and two German Shepherd/Spitz/Dalmatian mixes) and two big dogs (Labrador/boxer mixes)

so nah, I love dogs, I just think most people tend to be under educated when it comes to how you should raise them

I had a very similar incident when I was a little kid. I was in my backyard and a random stray dog tried to attack my little sister. I didn't get bitten though. I just hit it with a stick and it ran away.

pitbulls. German shepherds. German Malinois. Rottweiler. Doberman. Dalmatian (you would be surprised, they are huge dicks).

if you're gonna cite how they're the most prevalent breed in cases of bites or whatever, it's because they're super fucking popular (again, because of their demeanor, among other things)

or are you guys the types to cite how more white people get killed by the police than black people too

I see YouTube videos with families that have a newborn and a large dog together. Ill never understand it.

Not every dog is hostile to their owners or children, but dogs are descendants of wolves. And their change is recent. Those predator instincts didnt just vanish completely. Plus, this isnt like a car that also has risks and kills people everyday, but you still need to travel. Thats a tradeoff you accept, so you can live in a modern world. But dogs? Its fine with adults most of the time, but having a dog around a small child is unnecessarily reckless.

I feel like you've never owned a lab that happened to be an outside dog. They're absolutely bloodthirsty and it's nearly impossible to make them stop killing things.

That big fucker in the middle is a 160lb Cane Corso. He is ridiculously good with kids. Both my daughter and my niece are all over him all the time and he absolutely loves it. He is very protective of children. My brother recently had a second daughter (like 12 days ago). He won't leave her side. He will sleep next to her bassinet.
