I'll probably pass. Wasn't a huge fan of the first game, while I appreciated some of the design, those clunky old-Castlevania jump mechanics just aren't much fun for me. Might pick it up later if people speak highly of it though.

So, I can safely say three stages in that this game is significantly better than it's predecessor.

And I really liked the first one, too. But this clearly wasn't trying to be a Castlevania 3 clone like the first one, and there's a great emphasis on using characters all at once to get past areas. I was switching between Dominique to dispatch enemies from above (she has a direct up spear thrust, something that her first game equivalent Miriam did not) then quickly switching to Robert to dispatch enemies floating towards me that explode on contact (Robert is a sharpshooter that can hit enemies from a distance).

I also think the subweapons are a lot better. There's a lot of "here's the perfect subweapon to get you past a section" still going on, but I found myself using them in other areas, too.

And I just got the corgi piloting a mech and omg he's such a little cutie who's a good boy you're a good boy.

I agree this is better than the first, but just like Mega Man 10 I think most people will decide it's worse just because it's not as novel now.

I did. I'm stuck on Episode EX, the one where you play as the original characters. I just cannot beat Gremory without cheesing her as Hachi.

I was stuck on Episode 2 Stage 6 for a solid week, finally beat that one today. Got close on the Stage 7 boss too.

I beat all four chapters and got 5 endings.
This was a good sequel. Probably better than the first one.
Going to have to agree about the music. Not a single track stood out to me except for one.
Hachi the best and is a good boy.

I've liked the music so far (haven't beaten the game yet), Raging Chariot is really good imo
