i was expecting to get pissed off

with some rapping

those are good too. A lot of the appeal of Hamilton is following the story. The story + the music is what makes it so popular. Story hits you hard in the feels.

Why would you be expecting to get pissed off by musical numbers...?

Still haven't given it a shot yet and I'm relatively into Broadway and theatre. But I mostly heard it's just catchy songs combined with a lot of New York love? Like the easiest way of making a successful Broadway performance lol

There's nothing "cringe" about Hamilton itself. Its fanbase...yeah okay, pretty cringe.

It seems so corny to me. I'm not a huge buff but I do like musicals and there's just a weird kinda self-aware, winking at the audience kind of quality to it that I don't get from other stuff like wicked or jcs or Joseph and his dreamcoat etc

Also that autocorrected to Dreamcast on my phone lol

Maybe because I'm a history nerd, but I found the songs involve the politics of the time to be much better such as Nonstop and The Room Where it Happens.

Room Where It Happens is my favorite song off the soundtrack. so good, unf.

Wicked is great, one of my favorites, and the first one I saw live. I think my favorite musical overall though is Into the Woods.

What do long time hip hop fans think of this? I always feel like it's gonna be stuff I already heard a better version of. The stuff you wouldn't find without digging into hip hop. Maybe Im wrong. I need to just check it out and put my theory to rest.

some of the biggest names in rap/hip hop have covered Hamilton songs. Ja Rule, Nas, Wiz, Busta Rhymes, and Chance the Rapper have all covered songs on the official mixtape.

and i also saw some in bigger theaters
also well as 3 on a trip to england

some i've seen include
Beauty and the beast, kiss me kate, fiddler on the roof (been in those 3 as well)
Lion King
Mama Mia (obsessed with this in elementary school)
Fame
Phantom of the opera
Dracula
Young Frankenstein (so fucking awful turned every little joke in to its own song, just terrible)
producers
spamalot
smoky joe's cafe
7 brides for 7 brothers
Aida (i adored this one in like middleschool)
Mystery of Edwin Drood(brother was in this)
Oliver! (brother was in this)
something funny happened on the way to the forum
Mame!
Ragtime
Cats (left at halftime)
annie (i prefer the comic strip)
Honk!
The King and I
The Music Man
Chitty Chitty bang bang
once on this island
footloose
