Fox News host Tucker Carlson apologized to his viewers for helping to feed them "partisan junk food" from the Republican Party, and said voters should force the GOP to focus on what matters most of all: The American middle class.

"Middle class families are the core of this country. They are our hope for the future. Our only hope. And yet both parties have shamelessly abandoned them... Republicans pretend to be their champion. You know by now they are not," Carlson said during his show Tuesday night.

"Instead of improving the lives of their voters, the party feeds them a steady diet of mindless, symbolic victories. Partisan junk food designed to make them feel full even as they waste away. Who cares how many Benghazi hearings we have? We're supposed to care. Why should we?

"How did Peter Strzok's text messages become more important than saving American jobs from foreign nationals who are taking them? It is lunacy. We fall for it every time. And to the extent this show has participated in it, we apologize with deepest sincerity."

The conservative host has not shied away from criticism of the Republican Party or President Donald Trump, who he warned last week was on course to lose the 2020 election. His is the most-watched cable news program, attracting 4.331 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

"As we're talking about things that don't matter, life for the dwindling American middle class has become steadily worse. Suddenly, there are junkies living in your park. Your nephew just died of a fentanyl overdose," Carlson said on last night's show.

"And saddest of alland who hasn't thought this?you realize that your children will never be as successful as you are. The 'American Dream' died with your generation.

"As all of this happened, Democrats laughed because it served their interests. Republicans basically ignored it and that cannot continue."

He urged voters to force the Republican Party and its officeholders to change, describing them as "not, by and large, evil people."

"Despite the way they talk, they're not secretly working for the other side. Most of them are just empty, sad people, and politics is the way they fill the yawning void inside where a personal life should be," Carlson said.

"They're pleasers. They're searching for the approval of strangers. Our job is to give them clear instructions about what we want. We do that by voting and by making noise.

"They will not lead us. We know that now. They've refused to. We have to lead. And when we do, they will follow."

The Republican Party has been asked for comment.

Tucker Carlson will say things that make you think he's starting to really question the GOP narrative, only to segue into "but really the problem is irresponsible protests" or "they're not defending the police strongly enough."

With all that said, I do think he is legitimately starting to cave to overwhelming cognitive dissonance.

He was the first major conservative commentator who called out Trump on baselessly promoting hydroxychloroquine, and he's only gotten more frequent with those kinds of criticisms.

Really? That's not how I remember 2008 when Republicans were fighting for banks to double charge me on hidden fees. That's not how I remember my SO getting kicked off of health insurance when a Tea Party Republican govenor replaced a prominent neocon. That's not how I remember the parties fighting over college debt, costs, and efficacy.

Which party is fighting for more middle class Americans?

Awesome...hes basically demonizing the GOP for not being xenophobic enough and is trying to push for a new GOP with a further right ideology. His audience will eat it up too.

This is simply a pivoting away from faking allegiance to businesses conservatism and neo-conservative foreign policy. He wants his watchers to force the party to become explicitly fascist. He doesn't care about big government, as long as only true Americans get the benefits.

There's no need to distract people with Benghazi and Uranium One and Whitewater and all that, they just want Republicans to make sure they have good jobs and thats the borders are close and the unworthy left to rot.

Make no mistake, this is a turn for the worse, not for the better.

No angle, tucker will criticize the right and trump if they do things he doesn't like. He's still super partisan and the show is typical cable news hysteria, but he's way better than people like Hannity or Ingram.

He's discussing the gated institutional narrative (GIN) vs non-legacy narratives btw

ofc it has to go into a left / right discussion but the key point is the junk food aspect and lack of leadership. If we can get all the right talking heads to finally admit it, and the left ones as well, maybe we can convince our "leaders" to actually serve our own interests
