I know the show was well received when the first season was dropped on Netflix, but I still feel like it doesn't get enough credit. Especially when compared to other fantasy shows like The Witcher.

The puppetry in the show is amazing and really feels like some next level stuff. I love how the well the characters (especially the Skeksis) are fleshed out with their personalities, and even the writing is pretty good. Everything about the show is just pure quality. It would be a shame if we never got a second season. I heard the show was really expensive to make, and I'm not surprised.

Its a fantastic show. I'm itching for another season.

I was going to watch it but I watched the movie first and thought it sucked. It's the kind of thing I might have liked as a kid but as an adult I couldn't take seriously, there's no real difference between the puppetry used and the traditional muppet designs. I couldn't help finding it unintentionally comedic, even in supposedly sad or dark scenes.

I liked it as an adult but I never watched the Muppets so it doesn't give me any unintentional humor

In all seriousness, yeah. I freaking love this show. I think I've watched the first (of many plz) season four times now, which is no surprise considering the movie is a huge childhood favorite. Its clearly meant more for kids than for adults in spots, a bit moreso than shows like Avatar or whatever, but whenever the skeksis are onscreen, its like "fuck yeah that's my boys!" and I love everything about it.

The next season is supposed to re-introduce two of the three skeksis from the movie that were not in the show, plus two from the recent YA novels which I didn't read. The Mariner skeksis sounds like a fantastic character, and will easily be the standout of the season, especially if they stick to her design...

I mean, the first episode had some scary shit in it. But there were a lot of bits in the show that made me think 'ah, yes, that's a bit kiddy, hmn, writing's a bit rough here too.' It never bothered me too much, and I don't care to let the hyper critical part of my brain get in the way of enjoying a multi-million dollar puppet show that's a literal childhood dream come true.

That moment where the Scientist throws the slave down a pit and beats the other one to death was when I started to think "Um...this is a bit much"

I'd like to see more of the Mystics in future seasons. They weren't terribly interesting in the film, but the two that played a role in the series definitely earned their screentime. In the YA novels, the two that accompany the remaining 'new' skeksis supposedly play a large role as well.
