Not a chance. I'm setting up my shopping list for fresh food, but I'm holding off until reasonably quiet hours later on in the week. If I could afford delivery, I'd go that route. I've got enough dry goods to last a while, but onions and potatoes would be appreciated.

It's only at its "highest ever" because we're doing more testing. It's likely been worse, but we didn't know about it. And, as that one study in NY found, the scale of infections is far higher than anybody suspects because most people who were shown to have had it got over it easily (ie, the vast majority of cases, a person may have had it without even realizing so not everybody is spending time in the ICU).

Same, except four days a week for me. I work in the same building as firefighters though so I suppose my chances of exposure are slightly higher.

Nah man. Hospitals are reaching capacity in some places. Texas, Florida is shitting their pants right now begging people not to act like dumb fucks.

Anyway, I'm In Canada where the cases are much lower, so I'm not scared to go outside but I'm still not flaunting social distancing rules etc and still being responsible with distancing, not crowding in groups, hand washing, social circles, wearing a mask where you can't distance indoors etc.

Compare this to the states where the cases are growing exponentially, hospitals are being overrun and people still aren't following public health advice.

Been going outside all along, plus been working as normal the whole time. Outdoor activities were always perfectly fine here as long as you follow the basic safety recommendations - this is Alaska, there's a ton of space to play in safely.

My city (of ~30k people) hasn't had a new case in 12 days, and a grand total of 12 confirmed cases since April 15. Things have lightly re-opened and I've been to the bars a few times on weeknights or mid-day on weekends, been plenty comfortable with how few people have been out.

Depends. Can I take this literal even though I now realize no one literally means just going outside?

Now serious, I'm just opening up my circle from just my one sisters family to also a cousins family and my best friend maybe. My best friend still says it's a hoax because he's dealing with too much and it's inconvenient to believe it's real. Not gonna abandon him over it, but it is worrisome. Other than that he's a good dude and he respects how I feel about it regardless of what he thinks. It's hard to to go this long and just feel like I'm abandoning him right after his mom died last year and he hated how the rest of his family dealt with it.

This shits tough, but hey, we're all going through it.

I just social distance outside. Mask indoors. I'm not going anywhere with a lot of people outside tho. Maybe that's the difference here.

Just look at the "new cases" graph. We hit a peak in mid/late April, then cases started to decline, and now we're back up again to where we were before. Former hotspots like New York, New Jersey, and Illinois have seen numbers go way down while states like California, Texas, Arizona, and Florida have had huge spikes driving this peak.
