May as well use a theme Disney is mostly ignoring, rather than a theme Disney wants forgotten.

Do you not understand what's happening here? I feel like you're pretty clueless about the basic fact that Disney is using this opportunity to bring in more diversity to the park by removing a ride rooted in racism and replacing it with a ride celebrating minorities. How do you not get that?

If your biggest take away from that is "they better not add a TV screen" then you've got your own issues that you need to address.

I would never go on my own as an adult, but, for me, its just a relaxing place where everything is perfect. The caretakers for the park do a good job making sure that everything is bright and vibrant, whimsical and cartoony, that theres no cracking or faded paint. Its just realized with painstaking effort. Theres no real thrill rides but that just makes it more relaxed environment. You get on a ride and just chill for 10 minutes.
I was just there "on my own" as an adult, though it was because I was helping out a school on a trip there. Spent the majority of the time wandering by myself, though, and there's a lot of fun to be had. I agree with you that the Magic Kingdom is mostly just about the vibe -- the rides are primarily slow, immersive, relaxing experiences rather than thrills, with a few exceptions like Big Thunder and Space Mountain. I know they're building another big coaster there right now in Tomorrowland so that'll be nice. Magic Kingdom is definitely the most kid-oriented park though.

Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios have plenty for adults to enjoy, though. Epcot has the World Showcase which is a good time to walk around, plus Test Track and Soarin' are great rides. Animal Kingdom has an awesome coaster in Everest and maybe the coolest ride I've ever been on with Flight of Passage. Hollywood Studios has Rock'n'Roller Coaster, Tower of Tower, and the Star Wars stuff. Of the three, Epcot could use the most help and they're doing a lot of work over there right now.

Overall, though, like you said, none of the Disney parks are really about hopping from coaster to coaster. They've got a different thing going on there where the sequence is more like "thrill ride, show, slow ride, exhibit, thrill ride, dining, slow ride," etc with a fireworks spectacular to cap off the evening. Love the Disney World property for that reason, there's not really another place that does that variety on that level.

mulan is Asian. Sofia is Spanish. Pocahontas is Native American. The emperor is Aztec. Aladdin is Indian and his genie is blue but its obvious he is black (just like piccolo is green but you can tell he is black too). The new little mermaid is black.

your Disney so white narrative does not hold up. Nobody likes the princess and the frog.

make splash mountain Ariels new adventure and use the new black Ariel. Or make it the emperors acuatic adventure. Maybe you want to make it princess sofias Aqua logs or Mulans great escape. Not the princess and the frog since it fucking sucks.

and keep the magic alive: animatronics and practical effects are what made these Disney rides special.

Not really sure if there was an actual need to do so, but they honestly should set up more of their stuff to be easily reskinned every couple years. Maybe even rotate on a yearly basis. Would make it more enticing to go for some people if there was more variety. Only thing that doesn't really need to change is that "look into the future" retro animatronics thing because that's always funny to sit through.

They're only changing it because it was Michael Eisner's brainchild. They already got rid of ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter.

In all honesty though, it's for the best. I'm curious how they'll pull it off, since most of the stuff is built into the structure of the ride itself, but it'll be worth it. It was always a questionable decision to theme a ride after a movie which people don't have access to. I know it was meant to reuse animatronics from America Sings, but it could've been its own original property like America Sings was.

The important part is that now little Black girls can go to Disney World and feel like a princess. Some of you will roll your eyes at that statement, but it can mean a lot to an impressionable child to see herself (or himself) reflected in a positive light.

Ash is drawn to look like a White kid. He has a western name. The dude's as Caucasian as Mario. And the Ninja Turtles are White too. In the comics, Sheredder (who is Japanese) called them a racial slur for White people. <_<

In all seriousness, you and I never had to worry about representation growing up because we were already so prevalent in the media. We never had to identify with a minor supporting character because he or she was the only one who physically resembled us. And if we did, it was a rarity. I can honestly say that I have seen Song of the South and that I found Br'er Rabbit to be more entertaining than Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse.

Has anyone here opposed to the change seen the film? And if you haven't, would you watch the movie if given the chance? The ride itself is still there. They're not tearing down Splash Mountain to make room for a Princess and the Frog tilt-a-whirl. They're merely re-theming the ride.

I've always found it a questionable decision to model a ride after a property which most guests to Disney World do not have any familiarity with or access too. When the ride debuted, it was eight years removed from the last theatrical showing of Song of the South and the film never received a home video release in the US. Yet the ride curiously acts as if guests should be familiar with the tale of Br'er Rabbit running from and outsmarting his foils Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear.

No introduction is given to them, nor is the context fully discernible from the ride itself. It's a ride based off of a licensed property you most likely haven't seen. To which guests are treated to out-of-context scenes such as Br'er Bear hanging in tree with a noose around his butt. You wanna know what that's a reference to? In the first of three animated shorts, Br'er Rabbit is caught in a noose set by Br'er Fox, but convinces Br'er Bear he's being paid to sit in the noose. Br'er Bear gladly takes his place in the hopes of making money and inadvertently frees Br'er Rabbit in the process.

No way would any guest have guessed that's what happened if they hadn't seen the film themselves. And 99.9% of guests to Disney World have not seen Song of the South.

If Song of the South is to remain under lock and key (something I have my own reservations about -- but that's another topic), why shouldn't the ride be patterned after a movie which everyone has access to? You can go on Disney+ right now and watch The Princess and the Frog. It just makes more sense to have a ride like this based on a property people can see than to give out-of-context snapshots of a movie they in all likelihood cannot watch.

The princess and the Frog was an attempt to revive traditional animation and a damned good one. It only failed to do so because the movie underperformed while Tangled was a huge hit. So they continued with the tangled formula. Your hatred of this masterpiece of a film is misguided.

And How is Princess and the Frog Woke?

What is woke? When I think woke I think Men Going Their Own Way, a far right movement. They coined the idea of being awakened to tbe truth of the world.
