I just watched Aliens a few weeks ago. It actually is super outdated. Did NOT age well. Had a bunch of stupid stereotypes, some which would come across as super offensive today.

Alien has always been the superior movie.

Like mentioned above, Aliens (Edit: Aliens sequel) has one illegal alien joke.

Other than that, the movie depicts some of the military characters in a positive light. Several are brave, teamwork oriented and willing to sacrifice their lives for each other. Not all of them are like that, but a few are noble and thats probably offensive to a lot of people.

still let everyone watch the film, but just have a label to warn people that it might cause offence. just like sex and violence content warning before you watch a film. and when you go to museums, they sometimes add context to slave owners or other controversial figures

Uh no. Alien/Aliens is treated a lot like Terminator/T2 where both the sequel and the original are well loved, and there are a lot of people that prefer the sequel.

I'm just baffled by the sheer stupidity of it more than offended.

Disney and Warner did something similar in the collection releases of their old cartoons, where they have notes (or a grossly upclose with Leonard Maltin) to say that the cartoons are products of their time and that the views they depict are not endorsed, but to censor them would be to pretend they don't exist, which I think is a fair introduction.

...Except in the European releases where they just don't include the most controversial ones.
