Just reading it, the story doesn't strike me as outlandish. Here's some cliff notes:

- new steamer meets AJ at a party, messages everybody she met they thanking them
- AJ hits in her over hard over text, she is somewhat socially inept and assume he's just being nice
- she meets AJ with her friend with her, AJ whisks her away from him.
- AJ leads her around all over the place, introducing her to his friends and people. She's intimidated so she doesn't express how uncomfortable she is.
- in this time AJ uses some shitty pick up tactics, like pretending he lost his phone and getting her to call him to find it.
- eventually it becomes obvious he's trying to fuck, especially as he gets more drunk, and at some point her purse with get wallet is "checked"
- AJ eventually realizes she's not interested, gets angry and a bit physical, accuses her of leading him on to get contacts in the industry. Starts being an asshole and insulting her friend.
- she gets very purse and gets the fuck out of there.

He pulled her to the side and pushed her against a wall. So definitely not cool and scary imo, but he didn't punch her like Snooki.

But yeah, this is some toxic masculinity stuff you get at every party. AJ should definitely be criticized for his actions, but frankly I can see how he thought he was on a successful date until he realized he wasn't many hours later.

I'm glad you used the theft example because that's a good one. Imagine if we were friends and I conversationally told you my house was robbed and then you immediately got very oddly defensive and demanded proof and questioned why I didnt do X Y and Z like you're Richard Feyman trying to probe quantum mechanics. Imagine you finished by saying that maybe I asked for it or it's my fault for not living in a bank vault. Imagine if you had every possible argument for why the robber is a good guy down on his luck. Basically imagine you did every possible thing except say "that sucks man, I'm sorry."

That would be an insane experience but it's the lived reality of pretty much any woman who tries to come out about a sexual assault.

And sure, maybe they arent telling the truth sometimes. But it shouldn't surprise you why so many women dont immediately tell everyone they know and the police.

Only because we're use to absolutely horrific stories by now. If you saw a guy doing this in public then you'd want to punch him and if he was your friend then you probably wouldn't hang out with him anymore.

I knew Joe had a problem interacting with women the minute that Petra chick (or whatever her name was) ended up on his show for a few months. It was clear Joe was presenting her as his "girlfriend" and was trying to get with her, it was also equally clear that she was only there for professional reasons. Notice she stopped appearing pretty abruptly. I'd say Joe finally got the message and he cut her loose.
