Pretty misleading topic title. They weren't simply just "confronted with an amputee protester". Judging from the other video, they were trying to push people back and clear them from the streets since they weren't moving. The person who is an amputee happened to be in that group and was one of the people who ended up getting sprayed. I highly doubt with all the shields and bikes they could even tell he was an amputee.

"The Mayor seemed to justify it by saying cops tried for more than an hour to clear the streets, but "they were met with violence from some and took action, including using mace and pepper spray as appropriate to keep crowds in sidewalks."

If you put yourself in a situation where cops are trying to clear an area and you aren't moving --- things like this can happen
