Pretty funny how Trump was cleared of treason earlier this year shortly before the pandemic started, yet he's still so guilty! It has to be true, let's stomp our feet even harder until it's true!
  1. An impeachment isn't a criminal trial, and its outcome has no bearing on future legal proceedings
  2. He wasn't impeached for "treason"
  3. Not only was it voted along strictly partisan lines (aside from Romney), the Senate Republicans didn't even vote to allow witnesses to testify, which sets an ABSOLUTELY LOVELY precedent for all future presidential misconduct and made it even more of a joke of an outcome.
  4. You're not very bright.

So, I was pondering over this. Trying to figure out why this move was made now.

We got a pandemic, protests, large unemployement numbers, economy isnt doing so well... and yet, now is when Trump makes this move. Why?

And then you begin to realize that the shit response to the pandemic, the unemployment, the economy, have all pretty much put the nail in the coffin for Donny boy. His usual script isnt working anymore and he has nothing to warrant a new term. No wall. Whats he gonna say? Lets build it for real this time. No getting rid of Obamacare. No evil Hilary Clinton and her Pedo Pizza chains to have to defeat. Hes got nothing.

And so, remember, the only way individual 1 can outlive the statute of limitations is by getting another term. If not then his ass is going to jail. BUT... if he gets his own guy in there, and they work out a shit deal like, Okay, Donald... we have all these cases against you. But you seem to be really remorseful, lets just give you a fine then... well then the law and order President evaded Justice.

Its quite remarkable. To my European PotDers... would your nation stand for something like this?

You mean the impeachment? The one where everyone on both sides agreed to the facts of what happened, agreed that it was an impeachable offense, but then the side that holds the majority voted against actually removing their party's leader from office because they "felt he'd learned his lesson"? Yeah, that cleared him of everything and totally means he wasn't guilty of it. That's how that works.

Also, for somebody so insistent that everyone else is an idiot who blindly accepts the official stories instead of seeking the truth that the government is hiding from them, you're awfully willing to take Trump's claims about the impeachment at face value. To say nothing of the fact that nobody whatsoever mentioned the impeachment before you did and that that just makes you look silly.
He also wasn't even impeached for treason.

Lol dude they aint got shit on him. You're all blind to what ISN'T being said on the news, there's a silent war going on with DeepState right now. Trace it all the way back to 1913, this entire 2020 shit show has been a chess game against a bunch of rich fucks who own the Federal Reserve and control the Vatican.

Follow the money. It isn't Trump. They clearly hate him. I'm not into politics or religion, I just read everything I can so I have more dots to connect and rule out.

You guys all pick your favorite cancers/politicians and argue about it like it's a bar fight. That's not being a good analyst.

I actually meant to tag him as "Red Pilled" after the last topic where he was spouting conspiracy theories and using breitbart (or some other dubious site, I forget) as a source and forgot.

That has now been fixed.

Haha. "Who wasn't he investigating?"

Zeus never fails to deliver.

Considering that presidents have wide associations, it's unremarkable for a president to have some connection to somebody being investigated for something ESPECIALLY in his home state. The fact that you pretend this is somehow big or controversial is a matter of ignorance. There's always some "investigation" going and "investigations" shouldn't be used as job security, doubly so given the often-partisan nature of some "investigations"

Zeus could be a defense lawyer and he would never have to lie. His clients would just always be innocent.

If guys like you were the prosecutors, defense lawyers would have the easiest job in the world.

More low-brow trolling from KBE. Anybody who disagrees with nonsense narratives is instantly falsely accused of watching Fox News. But I guess when all you have is a hammer, you have to pretend everything is a nail. #NailedKBE

The hilarious part is, Audrey Strauss, the person who now replaces Berman, defeated Roy Cohn, who represented Trump in the 70's. She was also on the staff that went after Iran-Contra, which Barr is infamously tied to. And she's picking up right where Berman left off in investigating Trump.

Example #173739 of Trump and Co. being too stupid to get out of their own way.

Which, if nothing else, debunks the political motivation claim because by your own admission it makes things *worse*, not better.

CyborgSage00x0 posted...
I assume the premise of the topic is how is it ethically OK for this to happen, and it isn't. But if it wasn't obvious before, the Trump administration has shown just how terribly the checks and balances system of the US government has actually been set up is, especially when it concerns the Executive branch.

If the investigation stopped, you might be able to claim ethics. However, if it doesn't stop the investigation -- which you pointed out it doesn't -- you don't even have that leg to stand on. Otherwise once again by the logic of this topic, you're suggesting that an investigation gives people job protection which it *shouldn't*

So, in a nutshell, Zeus believes it's perfectly okay to fire somebody who's currently investigating somebody you'd rather they not investigate because the good of preventing unscrupulous investigators from using investigations as job security outweighs the bad of allowing people in power to interfere with investigations that might threaten that power. We all knew this, of course, but thanks for clarifying.

I know you think it's terribly clever to format your witty retort with the same phrasing I used, but I don't believe I've ever seen you do a good job of it, and it inevitably ends up causing more second-hand embarrassment than anything that might actually benefit your position.

I didn't say it was a *smart* move, and it's not mutually exclusive. Trump's entire presidency is nothing but a long list of him doing stupid shit that ends up hurting him. Hell, his poll numbers are in the garbage currently precisely because he can't help but dig himself a grave.

If the investigation stopped, you might be able to claim ethics. However, if it doesn't stop the investigation -- which you pointed out it doesn't -- you don't even have that leg to stand on.
It's an easy obstruction of justice charge at the least, and it doesn't matter if it was successful or not. If I try to murder you, but fail, i don't get off scott free. This is exactly what he was impeached over.
