I believe people just simply colloquially called it that because thats where the first reports of it came from. I honestly believe that if the first known cases were discovered in New York, we would still be calling it the NY virus to this day But yeah, Kung Flu and Chinese Virus was definitely racist. Kung Flu was racist in the same way ppl make fun of racial stereotypes.
