Well, they've tried.

But the law passed own works if they're undetectable by a metal detector.

The only parts of a car you can't 3D print are the engine and battery.

This is a very dangerous thing, yes. On one hand 3D printers are an important tool and regulations will hold back progress. On the other we cant have dangerous people printing out instructions on the dark web and stock piling assault
weapons.

Actually. You could do an engine, in theory at least. Since metal printing is a thing.

Or blow up. Most are just one pops unless you have commercial equipment

I mean, all barrels are semi-disposable and can melt/blow up.

If their structural integrity were compromised just print a new one.

I mean a few rounds is more than enough to harm people. And just print extra parts.

AK-47s and AR-15s are fully open platforms (much like open source software is) so there isn't anything gun manufacturers can do to stop others from making them, and it's already highly illegal to convert any gun to automatic without the proper license which the guy in the second video does have.

I don't know jack about 3 d printers, but are ones that use metal availible to the general public? Surly you cannot make a rifle barrell, or receiver out of plastic.

How do you 3d print something that isn't super fragile?
A lot of printers can make intricate, strong things. Its used a lot in the medical field.

The very first AR-15 printing I saw a few years ago was able to fire 8 shots before it broke.

Wasn't 100% 3D printed either it still has a metal magazine and trigger.

Agreed. That doesn't mean they won't try to lobby to make it illegal to print guns because if people have the ability to make their own that cuts into the Gun Manufacturer's profit margin.

Well, 3D printing has come a long way in the past couple of years.

And plastic fire control groups have become a thing now, reliability is questionable. But they'll set off primers at least once.

youd need a cnc machine, which arnt as cheap, but are getting cheaper each year. assuming you had both and plans/or knowledge to make them you could make a complete firearm from scratch (and people do) and one that would last a considerable amount of rounds. its not as simple as going to the pawn shop, filling out a 4473 and walking out with a gun, but its getting to be less difficult, less expensive and having access to higher quality materials each year.

sooner or later its going to get to a point where if someone wants a gun they ARE going to be able to get one.

You can spend a fuckton of money and make a garbage gun that at best breaks after a few shots, at worst blows up and harms you. Or you can spend significantly less money and just go buy a gun. So basically, this is all completely meaningless fearmongering designed to hoodwink dumbasses. Sounds like America!
