Yeah, you're doing it right. Release order makes no sense.

For as much hate as it gets, the middle trilogy is pretty cool. Dooku, General Four arms, and Darth Maul are all insanely cool villains.

But fuck jar jar. God damn he is the biggest stain on any franchise ever.

Normally, I go with release order. But Idk if Star Wars has anything that makes going out of chronological order really worth it... So, either way should be fine...

It's more obviously flawed in that sense. It's all a shock in the movie, and in a way stays that way, until the prequel series makes it obvious and not a secret at all.
It makes Kenobi look like an old man, a liar, when you meet him again after you see the prequels. Why would he deny ever seeing those droids?
Those are the more obvious problems for me when you take these movies in numerical order.

Another problem with that is the Clone Wars was stated to have been like 20 years before Episode 4. How the fuck did he age that much in just 20 years?

Phantom menace was quite a boring film man.

Didnt help that I fell asleep for 10-15 mins at a time and didnt actually realise Padmay was queen amadala the whole time .

some of these scenes are drawn out as fuck, reminds me of when danerys is riding the dragon in the final season of GOT and just burns everything for 15 mins straight real time, like ok I get it lets move on.

Ill watch a spoiler free summary of Ep 1 to see what I missed then move onto the next. So far dont quite see what the fuss is all about with Star Wars.

Also because I fell asleep I dont know how big a role Darth Maul had, because I woke up when he was fighting Liam neeson on the ship before killing him. Would have thought hes an iconic character with a lot of depth and screen time but all he did was chase the guys, fight them then die?

And all of a sudden Samuel L Jackson is here? Lol

Its overhyped tbh, but the original trilogy is what makes most star wars fans into star wars fans. Most diehard star wars fans think the prequels suck (except maybe the 3rd one and parts of the 1st one)

If you want more after that, . . . maybe watch the prequils. The new movies are all awful.

If count Dookoo acting for the separatists was warning Obi Wan of the senate being corrupted by Darth Siddius who wants to recruit a clone army, does that mean that Anakin and the Jedi were fighting against the wrong side?

Am I right in saying that Palpatine (who I assume is obvs Darth Siddius) is recruiting a clone army to squash the trade federation and banking guild whatever separatists (who were the bad guys in the first film). The separatists are led by Dookoo and theres the republic led by Palpatine but Dookoo seems to be playing for both sides.

The separatists and the trade federation were the bad guys in the first film, but now the republic are the bad guys here? Or are both sides bad and the Jedi are the only good guys trying to make sense of a messed up situation?

I dont f*** get it (Attack of the clones is def better than phantom menace though lol)

That's a spoiler, but not so much. When the movie came out, it was well known that he was the person who grew up to be a sith lord. So, it's a spoiler I guess watching it in numerical order.

I think you've nailed the story. Confusing, but just about summed up. The jedis restore balance in the name of good, but they're defining the good.
Dooku may have just been a for hire robotic user of the force, mainly aiming for personal gain...which is bad.

Man thats a rough spoiler to see when you googled Anikan Skywalker. It would have been a crazy twist reveal if you were never spoiled.

I wonder how youre going to like the Original movies (episodes 4-6) since you watched these prequel ones first.

I think the preferred order is chronological (4-6, then 1-3). But this way (1-6) is certainly an interesting order. Youre still in for a lot of surprises either way.

I hope so, Ive got Solo to watch after ep 3. I tried it once before and wasnt impressed so I hope its better this time round now that I have a clue about whats going on.

I dont think you will lose anything at all if you skip it. Ive never even seen Solo, but episode 4 introduces Han Solo perfectly

You would get more out of both Solo and Rogue One if you at least finish Empire first

When you watch episode 4, note that Hann is the only one that shoots. It'll make sense when you see the scene. That scene has had...3 changes I think now. The original movie and novel has only solo shooting.

The novel actually doesn't specify, it just says there was blaster fire.

But IIRC several parts of the novel are no longer canon. I think Owen was described as Obi Wans brother?

Grievous looked cool when he pulled out the 4 light sabers. Had a bit too much of a frail old man vibe with the constant coughing and hunched back for my liking but the character design is sick

If he didn't have that he would be unstoppable. They needed to make it believable that someone could beat him.
