Homeless 50 year old guy the police tried to arrest for walking next to the sidewalk rather than on it. Then they tazed him multiple times, beat the shit out of him, choked him and shot him 22 times.

Court says "This has to stop" and they will face a trial with a jury.

I wonder how police unions will try to spin this.

All over not quite being on a sidewalk?

Comply or die advocates have been rather quiet lately

Expect some jury tampering there. Police are no different than the mob when it comes to that sort of stuff.

Well he wasn't on the sidewalk at all technically.

But yeah. The police completed esclated it. The guy was a confused Schizophrenic who didn't understand what was going on and so kept trying to run away from the people attacking him. As such the police beat the fuck out of him then murdered him for not complying and trying to run.

Throw in prison for life and forget about them. They had the opportunity to do it right but chose not to. Fuck them and the horse they rode in on.

Cops do this shit because they KNOW there's NO consequence for their actions, so why not go balls to the mother fucking wall hard as you fucking want because who the fuck is going to stop you?

That's why it's great to see qualified immunity start to go away

I (sadly) hadn't heard of this case before - when did it happen?

Now, let's see if we get a hung jury because of one or two cop bootlickers or if they find enough sociopaths willing to vote to get them off for this

I kinda have sympathy for them

Not for this case. This case was beyond the pail.

But cops have to deal with crazy people, drunks, drug addicts and idiots all the time.

And a lot of people who are legitimately mentally ill and in need of help can be dangerous.

But man it's not an easy job to have when a guy tells you he has a weapon but not what the weapon is and you don't know if he is crazy, drunk, high, stupid or just confused but either way you only have seconds to act.

Good.

But what in the everloving fuck? They shot him 22 times? Really?

While he was lying motionless on the floor.

Sandwiched between 5 cops and a brick wall.

Yes.

Literally why the fuck would he even remotely justify such a response from the police?

He wasn't complying.

And this is why the court is saying a jury needs to decide if that's a legit justification. Qualifed Immunity cannot dismiss the case.

So that's all it takes for the police to put 22 bullets in your body then?

I would say no. But what I think doesn't matter.

We need a trial.

Which is why I fully support this decision and hope for the end of qualified immunity.

Don't care. Being a cop isn't even in the top ten most dangerous jobs in the US.
