It's not a full return to form, but I think I'll pick it up. That there are no consumable battle items shown so far and the inclusion of this semi-partner system gives hope that it'll at least be an enjoyable experience.

Looks like a blast outside battles. Still skeptical about that.

Also the still apparent refusal to design memorable characters and enemies. I doubt Tape or Colored Pencils will have much character development or back story.

Cause it is a game in a SERIES. The whole point of a series is to be mostly the same. If you want drastic changes, that is what a spinoff is for, or a new title. Like how Paper Mario was for Mario.

Do people honestly go do the following: Hey look it a game from a series I like! I hope it is nothing like the previous games! Cause that is why I play games in a series instead of brand new series!

There's a difference between innovation and throwing away the entire formula. 64 > Sunshine > Galaxy > Odyssey each have their own gimmicks, but TTYD > SS was like if Galaxy had the gameplay of Captain Toad.

What elements is this game missing for it to be a qualified sequel to TTYD? I don't get it. I got it with Sticker Star and Color Splash because those games actually looked like ass in the trailers prior to release. But this looks damn good.

You can't be serious......Nintendo is known for the opposite of this, LMAO.

Also it looks like the devs are aware of the party members complaint which is why they highlighted them in the trailer, even though I dont believe their have any significant role in combat at all.

At least bowser isnt the big bad yet again, and you have a few more allies to talk to and add hopefully to the story and dialogue. Even if 90% of all npcs are toads again.

Apparently theres no experience points, just coins that are used to buy weapons since they break after using them.

Nintendos love for adding an annoying break mechanic to all their games is starting to get really frustrating.

also I see theyve brought accessories back, although in a limited capacity and they look more like key items that you can activate/deactivate

im curious how Mario gains HP since there doesnt appear to be EXP and there a wide range of HP values in the video

ill say what Ive said before, clearly theyre more interested in making this an action adventure series and not an RPG. I think this could be a good game judged on its own merits, like color splash was. Id rather have this very-good game than nothing

If they were a significant or even decent part of the combat they'd have shown and gone into dept far more, we also didnt see any towns to my knowledge so if there are any there all probabaly populated by toads, toads, and even more toads.

If they truly want M&L to be the RPG Mario and PM to be its own thing (why? Who knows) they should just drop the pointless turn based battles and embrace what Super Paper Mario was going for. These half-assed RPG systems are lame.

I think the result of such the shift was:

1. Different staff and Director working on the games now.
2. Miyamoto decreeing that they focus on established characters instead of the more unique ones the first three games had.

The thing is, also, M&L is dead and the company that worked on it, AlphaDream, went bankrupt after putting out a couple half-assed ports that flopped. There is no legit ongoing Mario RPG series at this point.

Strongly disagree. Dream Team and Paper Jam weren't the best in the series by any means, but they were still really fun games.

It looks better than the last few games, but the sidekicks look like ass and the world backgrounds look kind of plain at times. I'm also expecting the humor to be subpar like the last few.
