This is good news for sure, as we've gotten no new information since the initial reveal back in January. The only new Pokemon related information we really got since then was the reveal of Zarude, though that wasn't specifically related to the DLC itself.

Hopefully we get the release date for the first DLC tomorrow, as that's scheduled to come out sometime this month.

You are in the minority in not liking the idea of DLC for these games. On the Sword/Shield boards, more people liked the idea of having DLC instead of a third version.

The advantage of DLC over a third version is that I don't have to play through the entire game all over again just to gain access to the new stuff that was added in the third version. I can use the existing save file from my Sword/Shield game to play through the DLC. Also, the DLC is currently cheaper than an entirely new game. If we got a third version, it would have been another $60 on top of the $60 you already paid for the original Sword/Shield where as the DLC is only $30. That makes the DLC cheaper than a third version, unless they end up doing more DLC next year.

Galarian Slowbro what a no effort design

This thing I'm most excited honestly is for the Pokemon returning to the meta.

Specifically Magnezone returning to f*** over Corviknights.

Well, looks like we got to see Galarian Slowbro's official design in this trailer. Still no word on Galarian Slowking, but that will be available in the second DLC later this year, so they're probably holding it back for a future trailer if they're going to officially reveal it before the second DLC comes out.

We also got to see higher quality designs of the 2 new Regi-like Pokemon, though we still don't know what their names are.

Galarian Articuno is Psychic/Flying, Zapdos is Fighting/Flying and Moltres is Dark/Flying

Galarian Slowbro is Poison/Psychic-type. It has the new Ability Quick Draw and the new move Side Arm Smash, which only it can learn. It Poisons the opponent and does Physical or Special damage based on which does the more damage

Well, turns out I was right about Galarian Moltres's typing. I thought it would probably be Dark/Flying, while I considered Psychic/Flying as a very real possibility for Galarian Articuno. I was most uncertain about Galarian Zapdos, as the official artwork depicts as a roadrunner like design, so I thought Ground/Flying was one of the potential typings it could have been.

Looks like that's not their actual English names, since Serebii reported those names before we got the official English names.

The actual English names are Regieleki and Regidrago.

How Galarian Mythical Birds exist? I thought there is only 1 type of Legendary in lore?

The two Regi Pokmon are Regieleki, Electric-type with a new ability Transistor. It also has the new move Thunder Cage which deals damage and traps them in an electrified cage for four to five turns and Regidrago, Dragon-type with a new ability Dragon's Maw and the move Dragon Energy which does more damage the higher the HP

Galarian Articuno is Psychic/Flying with the Ability Competitive and the new move Freezing Glare which may leave the target frozen, Zapdos is Fighting/Flying with the ability Defiant and a new move, Thunderous Kick which does damage and lowers Defense and Moltres is Dark/Flying with the ability Berserk and the new move Fiery Wrath that does damage and can cause the opponent to flinch

Gigantamax Urshifu (Single-Strike)'s G-Max Move is G-Max One Blow and Rapid Strike is G-Max Rapid Flow. These can do damage even if the target defends itself

There's an item, tentatively known as Cram-o-matic which lets you combine up to 4 items together to make new items. You get different items based on the items you put into it

There are Move Tutor moves given in exchange for Armorite Ore, a substance found through Max Raid Battles in the Isle of Armor. The first, a Fire-type move, Burning Jealousy damages both opponents and has a chance of Burning the opponent if they have had their stat boosted dfuring this turn. The Grass-type one, Grassy Glide, is boosted in priority in Grassy Terrain

In the Isle of Armor, you can make "Dynamax Soup", which when a Pokmon with the potential to Dynamax drinks it, it can become Gigantamax

In the Crown Tundra, Dynamax Adventure is a game where four players together investigate the Dynamax Raid dens.

In The Crown Tundra, there's a new feature called the Galarian Star Tournament in Wyndon. In this, you play Multi Battles against various characters from the story

Urshifu's new ability, Unseen Fist, allows for you to damage Pokmon that have used Protect.

That hasn't been true since gen III as the gerbils were in Kanto.

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to buy the DLC, but the legendary bird redesigns are fantastic. Giant Blastoise is pretty good too.

It sort of makes sense because Kanto and Johto are right next to each other. It was gen 4 onwards where it got silly, like the birds in Sinnoh and Kalos and the Latis in Unova.

also on some level the distinctions on what are or are not the same Pokmon are just being made up as we go along. Galarian Mr. Mime and normal Mr. Mime are both Mr. Mime, but Nidoran F and Nidoran M are distinct species? You cant expect everything to make perfect consistent sense with what came before it.

I always thought the anime went the "multiple but rare" route, especially since there was a baby Lugia in one episode.

You know it bothered me a little bit at first that they are not Regielectric and Regidragon to keep it consistant, but it doesn't work as well with those typings and Regieleki has already grown a lot on me.
