Most of them man. There's going to be carnage when things get back to "normal", the government takes away the pandemic handouts and there's a 20% unemployment rate and no jobs to go back to or new jobs to get. Have fun guys.

A lot of them will go out of business. The ones that do survive will have ridiculous rules like 25% capacity only, have to make appointments to sit on patios or try on clothes. They will go under in short order.

The house of cards is coming down. A lot of people have been getting by doing the bare minimum and saying "well I can always work at a restaurant or some shit so it's all good"

We need to rethink society and each individual's responsibility to society.

I imagine a lot of smaller restaurants are not coming back

Know a few restaurant owners and they are pretty much SOL. Couldnt get the government assisted loan (too many businesses applied and they got ignored) and the profit margins in the industry are thin enough as it is. The delivery and takeout are barely getting them by and its not sustainable

I hope Im wrong though

Irrelevant, the stock market is doing well now becuase it's being carried hard by a relativily small amount of companys making record breaking gains now due to the circumstances. Microsoft, apple, Facebook, walmart, amazon and a few others.

If the initial crash was the start of the storm, this calm now is like the eye, and you know what comes after right? Hench why so many are afraid of a major crash on the horizon.

I imagine alot of business jobs...people are more efficient at home. Alot of jobs are necessary just cuz people are inefficient at the workplace. The jobs that wont return are the bullshit jobs where people sit in cubicles all day doing jack shit...jobs that otherwise could be redistributed over a group of people who are actually efficient.

So what's the point in moving to a tech thriving area where homes cost millions of dollars vs. working at the same tech job remotely in a lower cost of living area in a different state? It seems tech employers hate this idea.

Most of those are shit pay jobs, and jobs =/= stocks. Cruise ships often hire from the Philippines, Malaysia and Eastern Europe and pay garbage wages for long hours. So not exactly a job youd want, the exception being bartending perhaps.

I think it will be similar to 2008, most companies arent going to call back the people they furloughed or laid off lol. If youre working from home then it might stay that way.

Ive met plenty of people who work from home even longer than they did when going into work. Their employer assumes because they are at home they arent busy and a typical 8-5 day turns into a 5:30am to 7:30pm day, because you have a conference call at 8am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm. And you have to be up by 5:30 to prepare shit for the meeting at 8am. Its this instead of one or two in person meetings in a day.

So basically no real industry is getting fucked minus smaller gyms but many of the employees are going to be fucked without their jobs back or their jobs got much shittier and less enjoyable.

No one thinks all resturants will go away chucklehead.

But a lot of them will not survive. Mainly local ones but chains that weren't in a good position before this or didn't respond well to this are at risk of massive downsizing or going under too.

A lot of them won't come back. Companies will decide they can do more with less(it's very appealing to them from a fiscal standpoint) and lots of small businesses are just going to straight-up go under. The restaurant business has notoriously tight margins and is going to suffer particularly badly, probably you'll even see some chains go under.
In other industries, well, I got loaded up with a bunch of new duties at Whole Foods(mostly cleaning related, but also some inventory related) and I'm probably never going to get out of doing them, even though my "hazard pay" is getting nixed in three days. More work for the same compensation, gotta love it...

There's plenty of things you can do do for fun remotely or outside with a small group while maintaining social distancing. But like it or not, the new normal dictates that many of the things we used to do for fun will simply no longer exist.

In general, most of the industry will come back.

For those thinking movies theaters will die, lolok. People like the social aspect of going to the movies; watching them at home on a tiny 70" with sub-optimal sound isn't going to cut it. Especially for big releases, that energy and excitement won't be the same as being there with other fans.
