Games should be in development for around 4-5 years if necessary and devs should avoid feature creep. If they can't finish the game in the targeted window, then oh well. Treyarch had 3 full years to work on their last CoD and we got the rushed fuckfest that was Black Ops 4. Granted, they kinda had to dial back a lot of the original elements and scrap the campaign because it had forced co-op that couldn't be finished, but they should've considered all of that during the initial development in the first place. In comparison, IW had 3 years to work on Modern Warfare and we got a new engine, a full campaign, a non-rushed multiplayer, with 64 players max instead of just 10/12 from Black Ops 4, co-op, and battle royale all during that time.
