My wife and I were looking for a venue and 9/10 of them didn't have a price indicated and wouldn't tell us until we did their tour. Even after telling them our budget, almost all of them came in way the fuck over it with the same bullshit line "now I know this is a bit over your budget, but for such a special occasion can you really put a price tag on it?" or some variation of it To which I always replied that signing their contract wouldn't make the extra money magically appear in my account. Then other ones where the price came in under our budget and then when they drew up the contract and sent it over they added a 25-30% venue fee, adding thousands of dollars to the bill. Basically you're putting money to reserve a service and if literally anything comes up (including death) you forfeit your deposit and the company keeps all funds even though they didn't provide any service whatsoever. There is such thing as bad policies and this is one of them. Especially with a videography company where their service is on the day of the wedding.
