He was old and lived a good life.

I'm not even in the country as I decided to spend some time abroad in Europe (only to be stuck in quarantine anyway), so I couldn't be there at the end and won't be there for the aftermath. It's really weird, maybe it's because I'm not physically there that it isn't affecting me so much? It not being tangible in front of me and instead being thousands of kilometres away makes it seem almost not real and it hasn't really hit me yet. My dad messaged me this morning explaining that he's been up all night, and I almost feel guilty for currently not feeling as distraught as some of the other family members are back in Canada.

I did see him last week on a video call with my dad, so that's good I guess. It's crazy because my dog was kind of an asshole in a lovable way. He was a troublemaker because my dad didn't exactly train him the best, but he was good to people he knew. That was kind of the sentiment from the whole family and yet here we are incredibly upset about his passing.

I'm not sure what's happening, my dad is going to call me in a few hours.

I do know that he had to take him to an emergency vet where it cost him $500 just to get in and then another $1000 to put him down, which is crazy.

They wanted $6000 to put him in the ICU with a small chance of survival. He had a fluid build up in his lungs and collapsed yesterday due to excitement because the family was having a BBQ.
