The base game only, for the record. I do think that makes a fair bit of difference.

I have no idea, I haven't played since Gods and Kings (in V?), but I love the genre and C6 is still selling for like $60.

When Civ 6 first game out I remember there was some pricing glitch where people were able to get it for like 5 or 10 dollars even though it was still selling for $60. I was always upset that I missed that deal even though I have little interest in Civ.

All is right in the world now

I love Civ 6. I only own it on the switch and so I'll pick up the base on the PC for free then and would be down to play some multiplayer if there is interest.

This also confirms last week's leak.

Borderlands The Handsome Collection (May 28)
Ark: Survival Evolved (June 4)

Are the expected followups.

whooped gilgamesh's butt after about 100 turns or something. I was having fun just leveling up all my cities then I realized I had 6 or 7 to his 3 or 4 and my military force was about 5 times bigger than his, so I just sent all my military to his capital and won easily

pretty nice gameplay loop tbh, on the surface it "seems" overly simplified and railroad-y but in practice it's really solid. I want to play more to get better at different strategies and tactics

it doesn't help that the vanilla game is always worse. Civ 5 vanilla was inferior to Civ 4 but after BNW was better. Civ 5 is better than Civ 6 vanilla but i don't know how it is with the expansions yet, especially as it's getting yet another bunch of DLC. i'm sure by the time it's done Civ 6 will be better too, if not already there.

status update:

'America' the country, led by Teddy Roosevelt, is located in South America. The capital, Washington, is in the western border of the real-world Brazilian rain forest. Philadelphia sits in the eastern border of the rain forest and is nearly as large as Washington. New York is a desert peninsula city to the southwest, containing a holy site where Judaism was founded. Charleston sits far inland near a lake and very close to Jerusalem. Baltimore is a mid-sized harbor town on the southeast coast.

Friendly city-states include Jerusalem to the east, Carthage to the north, Amsterdam to the southeast, Valetta to the far south, and a few with lesser relations to the far north. I've long been established as friends and allies with Gilgamesh. Queen Elizabeth is reluctant to grant friendship. A couple other foreign leaders have requested to establish embassies in my capital, but we've made little other progress in relations.

Having a great time with the game. I've gone from Chiefdom to Classical Republic to Theocracy to Market Republic. For a while I was pumping out tons of Faith and using Theocracy perks to purchase builds with it. Once I had a good number of trade routes established and my religion was spread as far as I could feasibly reach with current technology, I switched to Market Republic and am just leveraging the passive income.

I like the simplicity of Vanilla Civ 6.

I played a lot more of vanilla than i have since expansions have come out so I feel a lot less comfortable with my decision making.

I've only played one game of civ 6 from beginning to end, but the latter parts of the tech tree felt pretty hollow. Maybe it was since i was going for a culture/ tourism victory, but going through the tree stopped mattering and chasing the victory felt like a chore after a certain point.

Do any of the expansions improve on the end game trees?

I have, as a general rule, liked vanilla Civ over its expansion-laden successors, with both 4 and 5, and I don't see why it would be different with 6. I've got over 300 hours in base 6, and I have no desire to install these oversized mods that add a bunch of game mechanics that just complicate things. If I wanted a complicated 4X game, I'd play something from Paradox.

Now I'm playing with Greece. I'm liking the light blue aesthetic.

I'm getting more competent at the game. Always planning ahead on what I need to do to always have a tech/civic boosted, being more forward looking in my settling strategy, etc. I'm trying to just do everything roughly equally (within reason) for once instead of just amassing one thing and easily stomping on all the AI. A few of my cities are in frozen tundra but I have a religion/pantheon/whatever that improves yields from fishing boats I just have like 6 harbor cities. I'm slowly amassing a navy and a merchant empire

Despite doing the "well-rounded" thing, I still looked up and noticed I was suddenly about to get a culture victory. I decided to make it interesting by going full steam ahead on science progress to see if I could get the science victory before I incidentally got the culture victory without making any further effort. I ended up...4 turns short of completing the final space race project before the game's turn counter expired. I was a few hundred points in the lead at that point in terms of Score, having achieved the Future Tech and Future Civic tasks repeatedly.

Fun round, though! I grew my largest empire ever, settling on tiny distant islands and the far reaches of the frozen tundra, squeezing out every hex of land I could. I captured an enemy city for the first time (I mean, they declared war on me, not my fault my military was about 3 eras more advanced than theirs...they asked for peace after I took 1 city...). Now on up to the 4th easiest difficulty whatever that one is.
