That's crazy to me, I buy regular staples... pasta, rice, cheese, tortillas, cereal, milk, peanut butter... and I spend like $120/mo on a spendy month. And I eat like 2800cal/day

It depends on who you're buying for and how much you eat.

For me, my mother and my father it ranges anywhere from 50-100 bucks a week. With 100 bucks a week being when I "go big" and do a full resupply and get more name brand stuff.

If I really had to rough it, though? Easy I could get us to survive on 30 a week, maybe less if they are willing to not drink pop. We'd basically just be eating chicken every night probably.

Ya, my grocery bill isn't the best. I can get to 250-300 a month pretty easily for just me.I've tracked my shopping for multiple months in an excel sheet and the staples aren't the issue. They are cheap.
It's really those one off things that drives up the cost.
I like to think I eat pretty simple as well. I tend to eat the same things for lunch and dinner as well.

I look at exactly what I buy and at the end of the month, I'm fine with those items and don't think any of them are superfluous. I don't know. I also don't eat out, so I guess I'm fine with the overall amount I spend on food. At times I think those who post low grocery bills also eat out a lot but don't post those numbers. I don't think that's TCs case though.

It is surprising though...shit adds up fast.

Like hell, I go through 2 tubs of yogurt a week and that's $10 a week right there, $40 a month. 30% of your $120

Generally buy a slew of fruits and vegetables (bananas, oranges, maybe mangoes, and then onions, tomatoes, cilantro, lettuce, cucumbers, maybe potatoes), some chicken, some beef/steaks, coffee, cereal, milk, yogurt, orange juice, pasta, sauce, maybe a frozen pizza or two, bread, cheese, whatever else strikes the fancy or needs to be replenished like honey, olive oil, condiments, etc.

I spent a lot the last time I went to the store. I don't know if I want to mention it since it's well above what everyone else is mentioning. Looking at the to go website, I spent $354.68 on my last grocery run.

2 bags of Bagels
Sour cream
Coffee creamer
Light cream
Nonfat yogurt
sliced cheese
cream cheese
coconut milk
pound of sliced ham
wedge of horseradish cheddar cheese
cool whip
broccoli florrets
frozen strawberries
frozen blueberries
two 6 packs of cream soda
two 12 packs of seltzer
dog treats
3 cans of tomato paste
fabric softener
ketchup
hotdog rolls
Mucinex
2 gallon jugs of water
chicken marinade
5 cans of chickarina soup
12 pack of diet snapple peach tea
vivarin
ziploc freezer bags
meatballs
split chicken
sausage
grapefruit chunks
green beans
celery hearts
lemons
snow peas
kiwis
bananas
spaghetti
bag of shrimp
4 lobster tails
Bugels
Rice Krispie treats

It's worth mentioning I live with high risk people don't want to risk exposure too often. Better to stock up a bit than shop often.

lol I eat meat and vegetables every meal, they're just cheap ones. I'm not saying it's bad to spend more I was just curious from another topic and everyone complained about how expensive groceries are

I mean i could literally get two shitty swansons meals for the price of a bell pepper so not really.

Im obsessing over peppers but a head of cauliflower or broccoli here is more than a cheap frozen dinner too.

i think the only produce cheaper than some swansons crap is like mushrooms and green onions tbh.

I calculated my meal price, meal prepping for a week: rice + chicken + sauce + frozen veggies = $1.25/meal to stuff myself. Isn't a hungry man like $4?
