I think it's OK as long as people also ultimately recognize that the law doesn't allow for beating people up.

What if that guy you punched as more friends around him than you thought and they beat the crap out of you. Who gets prosecuted? Who determines who was in the wrong? Who determines who started it? Who polices which political speech is punchable?

If you actually believe that we shouldn't have freedom of speech then the proper road to go down is to outlaw that kind of speech like the a lot of European countries do. What you are suggesting is basically inviting violence into our political discourse. It's fine to say that you hypothetically want them to be beaten up. Nothing wrong with simply wishing imaginary harm on someone. It's another thing to encourage or condone violence. No matter how reprehensible the person, advocating vigilante violence is a slippery slope down several very steep hills.
